For those taking the midwife-to-be course..

Will you be taking some extra classes at a local colllege to help out?

I had thought about taking an anatomy and physology (sp) class to help with learning about the body and stuff but I have to take biology 1 and 2 to even take that class! It's crazy! I wonder if they would just let me take it without the prereq's? I mean even for the bio class there is prereq's for that one too! If I was going to take ALL those I would just sign up for the RN program! URGH

So anyways, what are you taking if you are going to take some extra classes and do they require prereq's where you live? (forgive me I know nothing about college courses)

I think I'm gonna sign up for an EMT course at the community college here. I've already had CPR, but I want the neonatal resuscitation and I figure a semester will help with my clinicals.

I am currently in nursing school and I hope my anatomy classes will count.

Hey! Thankfully I already have a few related classes under my belt as I started out pursuing an A/A then switched to ASN (planning on getting MSN/CNM) but then decided just to take whatever and go the CPM/LM route. I've taken Biology, A&P I, Medical Terminology, Chemistry, Human Growth and Development and in the fall I'm taking Human Nutrition, Intro to Health Delivery Systems (which the catalog says is about the ethical/legal issues with becoming/being a health care provider...should be interesting) and Child Psychology. For fun I'm taking Mythology in Art, Lit & Music. Lol Not at all midwifery related (unless there's a doula/midwife goddess somewhere out there.)

How about Medical Terminology? I did mine for AAMI with a textbook, but even so was amazed at how much A&P I learned. Perhaps there are fewer pre-req's for a Terminology course? Knowing how to properly pronounce terminology really puts you a leg up. No one likes to go into a transfer and mispronounce things and look like a fool.
