Hypnobabies certification training in the DC area

Hey ladies. I'm thinking about switching from HypnoBirthing to Hypnobabies and another woman in the area is trying to set up a training. If anyone is interested please let me know. Visit www.hypnobabies.com for more info!

do you know much about the difference? I have read Hypnobirthing and attended some classes (I wasn't really impressed but felt it was the practioner, not the content). I would like to hear more....

Well, I can tell you as a HypnoBirthing Practitioner I really feel the program lacks a lot of actual childbirth education. I mean, there is some childbirth education, but I really feel that there should be more. We aren't supposed to technically change any of the content of the program either.

Hypnobabies includes hypnosis techniques along with childbirth education.

The more that I actually learn about hypnosis tells me that there must be some better way to actually bring my clients into hypnosis as well and I feel that Hypnobabies probably has a better program. I'm saying that because I have read over and over again testimonials from many women that they used HypnoBirthing with their first baby and Hypnobabies with their 2nd and so on and that the Hypnobabies program was much, much better.

I've been thinking about the switch for awhile now and I feel like with the training being so close that I might as well go for it.

How does that compare with the Leclaire method? I think Aussie started the post recently and I sort of looked at their website. Aussie said she liked it because they have a distance course, and I think it was for $99.

I have to be honest with you. I haven't heard great things about Leclaire. I also wouldn't do a distance training that involves hypnosis and childbirth. You need the one on one training and should be free to ask questions when they come up. To me $99 doesn't sound like a good deal when we are dealing with hypnosis for childbirth.

It's not set up yet. A woman in the DC area is trying to see how many people are interested before she can set something up. I believe we need 10 people for someone to come out here to do the training.

From the website:

Quote:
Our Hypnobabies Instructor Training is a 3 1/2 day course, and each participant will have a background in both childbirth and hypnosis, and a love of working with expectant families. The cost for our training course is $495.00 per person, which includes all course materials. Course fees can be paid by PayPal, Credit Card, Personal Check or a Monthly Payment Plan. There is a Required Reading list, (books not included with course fee) which will be sent to you after you apply to our program. Each Prospective trainee will have an interview with our Program Coordinator to see if Hypnobabies is a good fit for you before sending an application.

A background in hypnosis means 50 hours of study from a reutable school of hypnosis, and our participants need only get basic hypnosis training. *Hypnotherapy Certfication is not required.* If you cannot take a local hypnosis course or would like self-study options, Hypnobabies has an affordable self-study Introduction to Hypnosis Course by Roy Hunter, that can be ordered for $190.00. Considering that most hypnosis courses cost between $500 and $3500, we feel ours is excellent and contains what is needed to complete the Hypnobabies hypnosis requirements for much less out of pocket expense and working at your own pace. You may contact us if you are interested in ordering it, at (714) 898-BABY (2229).

A background in childbirth means doula, childbirth, midwifery or nursing training. For those without a background in Childbirth, our one day Introduction to Childbirth Class is mandatory and is scheduled on the day before each Hypnobabies Instructor Training. This class costs $100.00 and consists of invaulable information on pregnancy and childbirth, taught through videos and a resource workbook.

In our Hypnobabies Instructor Training Program, ,you will be both student and teacher as you easily learn Hypnobabies... class by class, participating fully in all facets of your training. You will feel completely confident at the end of your training that you are qualified to suceccsfully teach Hypnobabies and able to promote and market your classes as well. Our 200 page Instructor's Manual is so detailed that our course teaches itself, and you will be provided with all Hypnobabies materials that you need to easily begin your journey as a Hypnobabies Instructor.

After training, each Hypnobabies Instructor will send in their Final Exam before becoming certified as a Hypnobabies Instructor, and all class materials for future Hypnobabies students will be ordered from Hypnobabies Network. All Hypnobabies Instructors will then join our online Instructor' support group, where we have files full of free Hypnobabies documents and forms, fliers, marketing, advertising and promotional resources of all kinds, as well as answers to frequently asked questions and direct responses to inquiries from the leaders of Hypnobabies and other instructors. This helps you to get started teaching Hypnobabies very easily while networking and learning from others. Our Instructor's e-mail group is very positive and supportive; a sisterhood of women who love helping young couples have the birth of their dreams. Newbies welcome; bring your ideas to share!

I really feel the price is good for the content.
If you are interested let me know! The classes will be held around Rockville.

Can you be more specific about the negative aspects and what you've heard? Is it the method or the training/organisation that you've heard bad things about?
I may have an opportunity to attend a training in California, so I'm interested to hear of anyone's experience with them.
Thanks in advance (and sorry to hijack your thread - you can respond in the LeClaire thread if you'd prefer).

I've always heard that she rips off the other programs and doesn't have anything original. I believe she has taken from HypnoBirthing and the latest thing I've heard is that she has taken from Hypnobabies as well. Her reputation really isn't the best. There was also a lawsuit involving Leclaire and Mongan (HypnoBirthing) because the word Hypnobirthing is copyrighted and as you can see she is still using the word.

I'll be going to CA in Sept. to do the Hypnobabies training. Is that what you are thinking about doing? You should call Kerry and talk to her over the phone.

Thanks for your input! It helps knowing this, and it sounds like you have heard from multiple sources about her ethics.

Side-note: I also believe that for certain things you should really be learning in a workshop/training environment and that distance learning may not be the superior choice.
Unfortunately, I wasn't sure what kinds of opportunities Australia would be able to offer me for in-person learning so I was trying to get in as much as I can while I had the option, lol! I hadn't followed up on this particular program because I had shifted my focus to making sure that I wouldn't have a lapse in my education or work (which led me to a method similar to Hypobabies that will regularly hold trainings in my area), lol!
Anyways... Thanks again for the information!

I attended the Hypnobabies classes as a doula and then attended the Hypnobabies instructor training because I was SO impressed. The training was awesome.

Let me just say that I have doula'ed Hypnobirthing couples and Hypnobabies couples and the Hypnobabies couples fared MUCH better. They knew what and how to practice and got GREAT information during the class and, most importantly, said that they were VERY comfortable during their birthings (according to them) so the hypnosis was very effective! The Hypnobirthing couples seemed to not know how or what to study, had no way to get into hypnosis, and have very few materials. And....were not very comfortable during their birthings.

I actually got interested in Hypnobabies by reading birth stories. I couldn't believe that they were all so positive! Hypnobirthing worked some but not all of the time in the stories I read.
