Must you be affiliated with a hospital to host an ICEA workshop?

I'm interested in attending an ICEA childbirth educator workshop,
but the cost of travel is just too prohibitive. The requirements
for a host facility are-

The host facility will:

Provide meeting space of at least 2500 square feet
Provide audiovisual equipment used by faculty
Provide catering information for food functions
Provide local mailing list
Guarantee ten participants
Provide on-site staff person to assist as needed

It doesn't say you specifically must be a hospital to do this, but
most of their workshops are held in hospitals. I don't see why
holding it in a hotel wouldn't be ok. All the meeting facilities,
lodging and catering are under one roof and it seems like it would
be easier.

Any thoughts or input? I have until October to send an inquiry, but
I need to get my ducks in a row.

I really don't think you have to be affliated with a hospital, at least I never got that impression after reading my handbook and stuff.

Yeah, I just wondered because all their workshops are in healthcare facilities.

Anyone can host an ICEA workshop. I am recently approved as a Childbirth Educator Trainer. For sponsors I only ask for meeting space.

You probably COULD rent a hotel meeting room, but YOU would be responsible for that, and most people don't want to foot that cost out of their own pocket. But people who work in hospitals can sometimes get access to the meeting rooms at the hospital for free or very low cost. I think that is why you see most workshops in hospitals. But as someone said above, generally people who are not hospital employees can't get access to those rooms.
If you have access to a meeting room that meets the criteria and is within your budget, then by all means, you can host one!

It does not have to be at a hospital or hotel. As an ICEA approved childbirth educator trainer I will bring a workshop anywhere. I am most certainly affordable to the regular person. Please ask if you need more information. You can hold the training at your church, local library, etc. What I really need is participants. Also go to ICEA.org or call them. They have revamped the way they offer workshops. They are now offered similar to doula trainings by approved trainers. Also, similar to the way Lamaze offers their trainings.
