Midwife To Be Program

So I have seen on a couple of your siggy's that you link to Midwife To Be program. I checked out the site a bit but was wondering if you could give me some real feedback. how far are you into the program? Have you felt challenged? Do you get help or is it strictly on your own? It seems very reasonably priced...

Hey, Kim

I am enrolled in the program (paid first $50 and got packet) but screwed myself up with buying the books. I bought the wrong ones first and ran out of $$$. So I have to wait until my financial aid checks come to get the rest. That's the only reason I've been a big, fat slacker!!!! So, I'm not far at all. Val, I think is on at least Unit 2. From what I've read through the packet, it is challenging...it's a sort of work at your own pace deal but study groups are encouraged/required and you learn alot from just getting out there. She highly recommends becoming a doula (which, we already did that ) all doula work counts towards clinical hours, any related college courses in the last 2 years count for school work. I HIGHLY recommend this program. I researched several schools and distance courses and this is the best for me.

I will tell you though, it is cheaper than most but it does not include your NARM portfolio review or exam (which is about $1400 altogether). Most other courses include this fee, which is why they are more expensive

Oh thanks.....looks very similar to Elizabeth Davis' Heart and Hands Midwifery Intensives, which I have already taken.

I'm on unit 2 and slacking off badly. I had a rough month, but I'm almost finished with unit 2. It is challenging and you have to be very disciplined because no one makes you do the work. But I'm loving it.

Go, Val, go, Val, GO!

I think I accepted my slackerness (is that a word?) yesterday. Working 4 days a week, taking 4 online classes, having 2 clients and *trying* to do some PP doula training just don't leave much room for midwifery work right this minute. I am still documenting all the work I do that will count (doula work, PNVs, college courses) but the rest will have to wait until Jan
