Hypnobirthing
Hey! Who knows about this?
Michelle- aren't you certified in this? How do you go about it? What all is required?
I have been really interested in this and the book/CD is on my Christmas list. I tried to 'google' it but couldn't find a specific site for Hypnobirthing.
Thanks!

What exactly would you like to know about it? How to get certified? It's actually really easy. If you go to www.hypnobirthing.com you can look to see if there are any trainings in your area that you can attend. After the training you just need to answer about 6 or 7 pages of questions, send it all in and wait to hear back from the Institute. If you have any other questions just ask!

Unfortunately I am not certified in Hypnobirthing. I am a certified hypnotherapist, and can do hypnosis for childbirth, but Hypnobirthing is a trademarked name so I cannot call myself a hypnobirth instructor, and I have never attended one of their trainings. I have been trained through my certifying body and also worked with a local ob/gyn who teaches hypnosis for childbirth.
If you are interested in hypnosis for childbirth make sure you also check out hypnobabies.com Both hypnobabies and hypnobirthing are really neat looking, but are slightly different. I believe there is also something called hypbirth.

I'm going to research all of these further...but can you tell me the basic differences between the Hypbirth, Hypnobirth, etc? The Hypbirth seems to be (just from what I've skimmed over) the best for me...I couldn't find any Hypnobirth classes ANYWHERE near me. Lol Are they the same and Hypnobirthing just a trademarked brand name?
Thank you so much for your info and input!

Are you looking at certifying in order to teach it? Hypbirth (from my understanding and I hope Lynne will clarify this) is a self study course so you do not "teach" it to parents. Instead the parents purchase the study kit on their own and learn it in their homes.

Well, I guess what I was thinking of is learning it and using it as a doula...but maybe I don't know enough about it? I would love to be certified if that's what it takes to teach it...that would be awesome. I'm wanting to do EVERYTHING! Lol

thats basically the difference, hypbirth is self learning, hypnobirth is like a series of classes you would take or teach much like bradley. if you just want to learn it to help your ladies, hypbirth'd probably be fine, you could even lend it out to your clients. if you want to get certified and teach classes, hypnobirth is the better way to go.

Thanks for clarifying that for us. That was what I thought, but wasn't 100% sure.

From what I got on the hypnobirthing website, they offer a one day workshop for doulas. The workshop teaches doulas how to use the techniques to help couples in labor and delivery. This is not a certification to TEACH Hypnobirthing. I'm pretty interested in this, but they don't have any workshops scheduled at this time (at least there are none on the site). I'm gonna e-mail them to see if they would consider doing one in my area!

I know I was hoping to take a training this year - although I wanted to do the certification course, but there are none close to me. Last year they had one that was in Ohio (I am in WI), but the training was changed to the same weekend that I was holding a doula training, so I couldn't go.

Oh that would be great. Could you e-mail me with how much it would cost with shipping, how I could pay for it, etc? I am definitely interested in ordering it.
