Tell me about your DONA workshop.

I know it will probably vary depending on what instructor you have but I would LOVE to hear about your workshop! What kinda materials did you go over, did you do any role playing, if so what? Things like that..

Mine was pretty much like Stacie's. We had a lot of fun talking and sharing stories. We did alot of role playing and went over comfort measures.
I didn't want it to end!

Same here. I've also taken the Alace workshop and they were a little different. Alace was much more hands on (we actually did pelvics on eahc other the last day) and more the midwifery model of care. Dona seemed to be more mainstream. Makes sense considering each organizations philosophies. : ]

You'll LOVE it! You get to be with other Doula's and the instructer gives you lots of good info on comfort measures, protocol with hospitals, and business stuff. At my Dona workshop this past fall our instructor, Debbie Lavin, offered us a business form packet. It was about $25 and worth every penny!

So just relax and ENJOY!

Mine was awesome...a group of like-minded women talking about what we love. We did both theory and had a practice session of comfort measures on each other as well as role playing in labor scenarios.

I was SO sad to leave doula training. There were 7 other women there besides me. I LOVED it. I learned so much...we talked about evidence-based research, the DONA scope of practice (which was really helpful), did lots of role playing with different scenarios, interviews, etc. The rebozo/birthball/hip press exercises were my favorite. We had a pregnant mama there who LOVED being our practice dummy. Lol. I also really appreciated the whole, big notebook of information we all received. All sorts of forms and information. It's a complete refresher and overview of the training if I need it.
