Having trouble finding a business name...
Everytime I come up with a name for my business the name ends already being used ...I guess great minds think alike . I am having such a hard time coming up with a name. Is anyone else having this problem?

I'd say if the other business is across the country or in another state I'd use it anyway. I don't know if that's legal or not but if someone was far away from me and somewhere I'd never move to I wouldn't care if they stole my name. Lol
I really like 'Labor of Love' and sometimes wish I'd used that instead even though there are a few called that out there.

Well, I know other people have TLC Doula or Tender Loving Care Doula. When I first started I took Tender Loving Care Doula and then when I realized lots of others had the name I changed it to TLC Doula and Educational Services so that it covered my education portion too. I know that no one locally has that name, so I decided to keep it. Plus I had never heard anyone have the name exactly like I have it.
I know when I was trying to find a name for my daycare someone suggested adding my name to it so for that my daycare's name was Hardy's Home Away From Home because there were many Home Away From Homes

I think that when you go to register your business name, they just make sure that there aren't any other businesses with that name in your state. I do not believe that out-of-state business names count. You could probably do an Internet search to find a website for your state where you can look up to see if your hopeful business name is taken or not. I've seen a site like this before in the past for my state (Ohio). If I can find it again, I'll post it; maybe it has info about other states, too. (don't have time to look for it right now, though) Good luck with picking something you like!!!

I don't think anyone has the same name as me, I've searched on the internet and all and I don't see anything like it. It's Active Labor Birth Services.

for a while I never thought I would use or need a doula service business name Just Tashina Marker birth doula services.I think one reason why was there was none that came to mind till this past week.I LOVED it when it came to me.It was an on the spot inspired title inspired by a beautiful picture. The title will tell you what the picture was.:Baby n hands doula services. The picture is black & white with a man's gentle hand holding the cutiest baby ever! It was just such a beautiful in the moment taken, forever remembered picture. It was sent through internet to my mom who now uses it as her desk background So the will be my new title change I think if you all think it fits.I actually had second thoughts on it because it was more towards midwifery.
I wish I could could copy the picture to show ya all ,but I can't find it! argggg

Tashina....
I've seen that awesome picture! ...and what a beautiful name!! Actually, it doesn't have to be just for midwifery. A doula also has the baby in her "hands" as she uses her hands to care for the mother, massage that blessed belly, etc.! Also...am I incorrect in thinking that you were thinking of becoming a midwife someday? I'm not sure if I'm remembering correctly or if I'm confusing that part with any of a number of doulas on this board. In any case, I think it's a lovely name, with a lovely inspiration!!

Yep photo by Anne Geddes. But really, even if the doula is across the country, if you found her on the web, don't use it. It could cause hard feelings and as small as the online doula world is, you don't want that.
