Making progess! So excited!

So I was 'unexpectedly' out of work for 3 days last week. I got SO MUCH done in the way of my doula business. AND I didn't realize that today starts my spring break from school! Tomorrow when I leave work (at 2 pm) I'm going to the crisis center and 2 OB/GYN offices I got in touch with and drop off flyers, cards & goody bags. So far people have been really great! I also registered for my CBE class and found out it's FREE! My website is getting better, piece by piece (it's hard to do anything while at this stinky job!). Right now I sort of have temporary stuff. I'm waiting to get the 'real', serious brochures and business cards with my logo and what-not until I'm certified and can stick that CD(DONA) after my name. With this advertising I hope to just get my 2 other cert births (and by the summer would be nice!). Please send me lots of good vibes tomorrow as I go to meet these people for the first time and hopefully get lots of potential clients!

I'm also interested in your goody bag contents. Seems the nurses in the hospitals near me would prefer a carton of cigs to a bag of cookies, but maybe you have some healthier ideas?

Well for the office staff, nurses, midwives and docs I'm taking homemade cookies (you know those ones that all you do is pop them in the oven but they are delicious??). The goody bags are actually for the expectant moms/potential clients. They are so cute! I got a bunch of samples and each bag has in it Kashi Healthy Heart oatmeal, Luna bars, Lansinoh, Traditional Medicinals Red Rasp & Mothers Milk teas, Earth's Best Rice Cereal, Natracare pads/tampons/baby skin care products, and it seems like I'm forgetting some things. Lol I put them in little white lunch bags and folded the tops down and sealed it with a pretty purple flower sticker that is also holding onto my business card. They are much cuter than I thought they'd be! I also got mini laundry baskets to deliver them in so they don't just get a bunch of bags thrown at them and wonder where to put them! (I work in an office so I know what's annoying and how to score points with office peep. Lol ) I also made a bunch of flyers last night with a little bus. card holder on the bottom but many of the places I had in mind only let you hang them if you're non-profit. I mean, right now I'm not making a profit. Lol Wonder if that counts?

I leave in 2 hours to have all this fun. I'm so glad I found something I'm passionate about and love doing. It's supposed to storm all afternoon...I hope not!
