Another promotion idea
I came up with another idea for promoting myself and just thought I would share. As I have mentioned before I have my own brochure that I created that I give to parents and then typically I will also give them a brochure that I purchased from DONA (or whatever group I get them from). Anyhow, I met with my friend who had all these brochures and pamphlets from a show/exhibit thing she went to and she was complaining that it would have been nice to know who they came from.
That got me thinking because how many times do we go to interviews and perhaps give people stuff without our contact info on it?! I know the DONA brochures I give don't have my info on them!!! I wondered to myself whether people who interview with more than one doula might mix up the info they got from one doula to the next and then when it comes to hiring they can't remember who gave them what, or what about the family that wants to share info they gathered? Without your (my) contact info on the brochure how are they to know who gave it to them? Sure they might remember, but I don't want to take that chance.
Here is what I did - I went to the office supply store and bought clear address labels and printed "Brochure compliments of............." and then put my contact info. This way they will always know where they got the brochure
Just another promo idea ladies.

Neat idea!
I like that idea, Michelle! For those brochures from orgs. and such ( my personal brochure would have my contact info already on it, of course), I had thought about getting a rubber stamp made. I could even buy colored ink if I want (I like Purple! ). I think that your idea might look better, though. Thanks for sharing your idea!
Btw....Does CAPPA have a brochure for marketing to clients? I know that DONA does, but I'm not a member of DONA. If I knew that CAPPA had a brochure appropriate for passing out to potential clients, I'd surely use it in addition to my own!

Unfortunately I don't think they do. The only brochure I have ever seen is one towards potential certification. I know it was talked about and I think someone is working on it, but for not they don't have one.
In my case I am certified through both
Oh yes, and the rubber stamp idea might be cheaper LOL. It is also funny you mentioned purple because blue has always been my favorite color, but lately I have been doing everything in purple (including these last labels

I ordered address lables that say the following: Trimesters Doula Services
Liz Mullins
(506)372-4562
doulalm@nbnet.nb.ca
They are on a roll of 500 in pink, green, blue & yellow and cost me $12.00. I ordered them through a coupon I got with my Sear's statement. I stick em on everything...my cell phone case, all of my books(lending library) my cd's, dvd's, DONA pamphlets etc. Then I have my own brochures with my info as well.
I also just made an appointment to get my logo(seen below) put on my mini-van windows. It will have my phone number as well as my web address and will cost about $100.00 and I can just scrape it off the windows with a razor blade if i ever sell the van.
I will take a pic of the van when it's done and post it so you guys can see.

I'm so going to do that! OL I was a Mary Kay consultant for a while. I was amazed that all I had to do was wear their little pink pen and women would walk up and ask and boom I had a customer! I think it will be the same with the car decals.

Wow, looks great Liz!
Kirk is buying my sister's 98 Dodge Caravan for me (they just got a new van) and I'm going to get the large magnets with my logo for the driver and passenger doors. I'll probably put my web site addy on the back window and I want to get a couple birth and/or breastfeeding bumber stickers for the back bumper.
Anyways, thanks for the picture. I LOVE it! btw the new van is white. The one I'm driving now is a GMC 15 passenger van. The gas is ridiculous!
