I'm finally getting calls!
I'm getting calls!!! The Valley Foothill Doula Collective (a professional doula organization) has a "circle" of the members that they use when mom's call the 800#. I must be first on the loop because I've gotten 3 calls this week
I'm meeting a couple tonight. They're due May 26th.
I also got a call from a mommy of twins looking for post-partum work. Get this at 22 weeks she went to the OB because she just didn't fell "right". They patted her on the head and said, "oh you're fine, just go home and rest." She went out to her car and called her husband in tears. He told her to go back into the OB's office and INSIST that they check her. At 22 weeks she was 90% effaced with no dilation! They immediately rushed her to the hospital and she has been there ever since. She's had to do the butt up in the air mag. sulf. the whole 9 yards. Now that she's 30 weeks she feels like the twins might actually make it. I'm hoping she calls me back.
I just had to share I'm finally getting calls!

It's so funny, May must be baby month or something because I was born May 3rd, I have a client due may 5th, and two other possible clients due in May as well.
It is spring... hehe

Wow Jill, it must be a Sacramento kind of week! I got an email this am from a mom, who is due in Sept, which is when I am going to start taking clients so it is perfect.
Also I will be doing a seminar at Babies-R-Us in Roseville once a month about doulas and labor support.
Sounds like it has been a great week for both of us!!
CONGRATULATIONS!!

Well, the clients called yesterday and said they had chosen to go with a diferent Doula. I thanked her and wished her luck and told her to keep number and to feel free to call me anytime.
Then this morning she called back and said that they really want me. YAY!!! A paying client AND the first of three certification births.

That's terrific, Jill!
Congratulations! So....when is she due? Will your foot have time to heal before she has her baby?

She's due May 26th. We're doing our first pre-natal this Sunday. This will be the long one where I go over options, birth plan, and any concerns they have.
I don't think my foot will be a problem. I figure I can still doula with a cast on my foot. I am hoping for a walking cast though!
Thanks for all the support!

OK, so here's my update. First things first, I'm in a walking boot for 4 (now 3) weeks and have a small hairline fracture. It really isn't a big deal at all. I wear the boot during the day and get to sleep and bathe. No cast! :laugh WooHoo
Now to the good stuff, business is really picking up. I have clients due May 26th and they paid me in full! I have an interveiw Monday with clients who are due June 25th. Yay!!! Now if I could just get my filing and receipts and books and binders organized...it's baseball season so I'm spending a lot of evenings at games and practices. I love it though. We've been with Antelope Little Leagu for 9 years, in many ways we have a small town "feel". Summer's coming!
Jill's rambling again!
