What should I use....?
Ok ...I don't know what to do ...I need to make flyers....however I was thinking maybe business cards would be best...however I think a business card does not have enough info and flyers have to much and a mom has to take the whole thing ...however I twas also thinking maybe postcards would work best...a little of both. What would it be easier to place in a office...I what something that a mom will notice but also something that is not in the way. Help!
So...
Flyers?
Business cards?
Postcards?

eeee I'm in that same dilema I would think business cards and post cards or business cards stapled to flyers...
Ya'll think leaving them in OB-GYN offices is a good idea?

I think it is a good idea to have both because then depending on the situation you would utilize the various products. Whenever I send info to doctor's office I include both pamphlets and business cards. Recently I have had a few clients contact me who had gotten both my brochure and business card from their ob.
I am not sure if you were planning on making them on your own or not, but making brochures on your computer are pretty cheap, and can look very professional especially if you use a brochure making program. Personally I like Microsoft Publisher.

I agree as well,up to now I was using just flyer/brochures,but I think that the cards will help out a lot,so both!

Same delima here too, What I have decited to do is 1st set up a website with all my information on there (breastfeeding classes, ppd, doula, fees, everything I could think of) then order business cards (with my web addy) . Then mail a introduction letter about myself to all the hospitals, midwifes, ob in the area (with business cards). After that then it is time to hit the streets and drop off brochures too all the above offices.
I was told my my class instructor that even if the 1st time an office doesn't want your brochures the next month go back and the next untill they let you start to leave them there. Make sure that every month you check where you have left them the month before and restock. oh and it doesn't hurt to take them a basket of cookies..all office staff love cookies ..lol

If you're wanting to leave something in offices, I would go for brochures over flyers and business cards. Flyers are too big and take up too much room and business cards are too small and easily lost.
For now to save money I've been making my own brochures from my
Printmaster program and they are turning out really nice...I've had quite a few compliments on them. So to get started you could simply make your own from a program on your computer and then get a set of #250 business cards through Vista print for only $5.95 (shipping)...this is where I've gotten mine for years and my husband who has been in the printing industry forever is really impressed with them and said there is no way to get a better deal.
Eventually I'll get my brochures through them too so they match my cards, but I need to save money right now.
If you have some special event coming up you could make a flyer that can be put up, but for advertisement in offices and stores, I think brochures are best. Then keep cards with you everywhere you go to hand out to people and stick a couple in any letters you send send out to midwives/doctors, etc. for them to keep (hopefully) on file.

before I had the website I made up some postcards (printed myself). I felt I wanted to give them a little more info than just a card. Once I got the site going I felt it was ok to hand a card with a "check out my site for more info" kind of thing. I agree, though, that in the long run there are occasions for all of it. Print your own is an inexpensive way to start without committing to one design etc.

This is so true. I have been mailing brochures for a long time and now after a year or more of sending them I am starting to get doctors to hand them out to mamas. I have had a few mamas call me because they got my brochure or card from their doctor. I think sometimes doctors are hesitant to recommend a doula or educator or whatever because in this business often times people come and go very quickly. If that is the case then they do not want to recommend someone who then quits quickly, but if they see your brochure, cards and name over and over again they realize you are for real.

Business cards, postcards, flyers or ....
Hi,
You need enough information to make them want to call. My order of preference would be postcard, flyer, business card.
But actually, one of the best things that you could do is a bookmark. On the front, put your information. On the back, put more information but add recommended books for preganncy as well.
Now, you have something that you can stick in magazines, books. Libraries might be willing to take them and many times bookstores will take them at put them by the register.
You will pay about $130 for 5000 bookmarks. This is really great for doula groups becuase it is so cheap to split.
Go to simplypostcards.com for bookmarks.
Vistaprint is cheapest for postcards.
I stopped using the tri-fold brochures a while back. Too expensive and still gets thrown out.
Warmly,

I don´t know how expensive fridge magnets are, but here they´re really cheap. So I´m planning on making calendar magnets with my contact info. Pregnant women always need magnets b/c your memory goes out the window and having Doula contact info readily available makes Doula more accessible.
