I would be intrested to know from those of you who have websites how you got them. Did you design them yourselves and just purchase the domain name or did you buy templates or what? Thanks Tiffany Hensley-Cummings

it's been up since November and I STILL haven't finished writing all my articles! Shame on me!

I purchased a package through godaddy.com. I got my website name and a basic website creating program (called Websitetonite)for cheap. I'm working on it still, I think the program is too limited, so now I'm redesigning it in Microsoft Frontpage. Eventually I'll cancel the Website tonight part and just keep the hosting and upload my own stuff.
I'm new at all this, so it is definitely trial and error.

I use dote-easy.com and they have a free website builder that is really easy to use. Its ok, and I like it but I really want to be able to do more with it though, but I am not so smart about things like that. www.lloyddoulas.org
I purchased my domain through godaddy and will have them host it. I have hired a wonderful alldoulas member to help me build it

I purchased and built my own. I host it with dot5hosting.com.
Oh, with the exception of the buttons which I purchased from you. Though if I ever get over being lazy I am going to change them because another doula in town has since got the same buttons.

i purchased my domain years ago- the first one was laborolove.org and was from a client as a gift- but it is now alaboroflove.org and was originally a msn site with lots of ads on it- but i recently paid a designer to redo it- make it stream line and i love it- my clients say it is easy to navigate. it still links back to the msn site so i can make updates and do stuff- yea it is a control issue i am sure- but i pay her an hourly rate to update things but i love it now. the pic on the opening page is one that you may remember from the cappa cover- it is one i took of my daughter when she was pregnant with her second. would love to get your input if you want to visit it.
I've visited your site many times, Teresa, and I LOVE your articles. One of my favorites is the article on birth plans...I love the line about avoiding VE's by staying out of bed and keeping your panties on! Many women could avoid all kinds of life problems by subscribing to that rule! (If I'd have known then what I know now )

funny ladies- i do try to interject a bit of humor in my teaching - whether it is in a written article or when i am speaking, etc. but yea we would not be in this business if everyone had kept their panties on!
oh i have another site that i purchased from a company named ACM Systems / Wahmshoppes and had a wham from Amitymamas another forum like this that is for "crunchy" type moms. she did a good job designing it and it allows a good shopping basket type approach. i can't remember what i paid- it was not much and tony the guy who runs the ACM Systems charges me $90 a year for that site- not bad for a store site i don't think.
I got my domain name through alldoulas and used Mambo that on the panel to do my site, but it was very hard for me. Tiffany has a TON of cool templates you can use that would be much easier. I'm really happy with it, and the price too.

I bought a domian name through bravenet, built a free site through googlepages and linked my domain name to it...now you type in my domain name and it automatically transfers you to the googlepages website. I have been really impressed with how easy it has been and everyone thinks I had someone else design it...not bad for $10 a year lol!
