Client referral gifts?

I know we've discussed giving gifts to clients and/or their babies in the past. But, I just had a couple that hired me at our first meeting (which I usually discourage as I want them to have time to discuss it), based mainly on a current client's reccommendation. So, my plan was to send my current client a small token of appreciation. I was thinking a Happiest Baby DVD or the like, but wouldn't you know, they already have it! I'm thinking something educational, but inexpensive. Any thoughts?

Well, I don't really know what you could send, but I will share what I do - I send all my referral clients a thank you postcard with $20 off of my other services (in my case it could be massage, happiest baby class, infant massage class).

How about a giftcard to a coffe shop, a baby video like baby ienstein or signing times, a cute outfit for baby, a gift basket, or a check and the name of a great babysitter!

I send out gift cards to clients who refer to me in which I get a signed contract. I also sent out gift cards to other doulas who refer to me in which I get a signed contract or web design client out of.

It's a $20 gift card for doula client referrals from either BabiesRus, Target, BabyDepot, ToysRus, Panera Bread, Starbucks, or a meal delivery service.

It's a $10-$15 gift card for web design clients to Starbucks, Peaberrys, Panera Bread, Atlanta Bread Company, or another place similar.

I have also sent out gift cards to my backup if I called her in but then called her off. I didn't want her to feel like her time was wasted.

A coupon for a pedicure and manicure at a nice salon in town. Mommies need the pampering! That or a coupon to a nice restaurant so they can have a little date.
