Logo frustration

Well, I have messed around with my logo quite a bit and I am not really happy with it. I have posted an ad on elance and I really do not like anything I am seeing.
I sort of have an idea as to what I want, but I can't seem to describe it. I know the colors and the style. I mean I can show you a couple I have done and some other peoples logos that I love, but that is just a start. How do I get what I want, when I don't know what I want??

oh I am so sorry sweetie. I have been following your logo saga. i know how hard it is to get what you want. just keep at it and do not settle for anything less than what you want. a logo has to be special to YOU!! when you see it, there will be no confusion. you will know. keep at it.

It may be that this is not the right time to get a logo for your business. To hire an amazing designer who will truly listen to your needs and CREATE a fantastic logo for you out of all the ideas you have in your head, you will probably need to go outside of elance.com and the other cheap logo-mills. A true professional graphic designer will charge anywhere from $300 to $1000 but will make it well worth the money. Sometimes I think that getting a logo is more of a business luxury than they way people treat it. Maybe it would be best if you wait until your business is established and you have truly discovered your style... AND you are making a profit that would support paying for a logo. After you have been working for a while, you really begin to define your business and it is easier (in my experience) to verbalize how you want to represent yourself. In the meantime, it is totally possible to create nice marketing materials without a logo.

On the other hand, sometimes you just have to make a leap and hire someone off elance even if you aren't totally sure they are "the one". You might be suprised by some of the hidden talent you find there.

Thank you for your encouragement. I think maybe I do just need to wait and see what happens, because I am not happy with what I am seeing. I just made a logo myself last night and I am happy with it if I were to use it short term. So I think I will just wait

I was going to ask you how you choose who you used? They also sent me a bid and i do like them compared to alot of the others. But what sold you on them?

I know, that is why I know I haven't found the logo that I want to use. When I look at them none of them just make me smile. . . they make me cringe, because they are nothing like I want. LOL, thanks for the support!

A combination of the price and their portfolio. The company I chose was very responsive and got everything done extremely quickly. It was a bargain if you ask me.

Okay, I think I am going to go ahead and someone create my logo afterall I have finally narrowed it down to 3 companies, out of 35, I am interested. I really like the people who did yours and then TheNetMenCorp and Charels Design if you saw them. Hopefully I will get what I want in the end.
