Hi all,

I am curious to know what is involved with getting the business side of your doula business up and running?

Thanks

Do you mean legal & tax stuff, or just what aspects of our businesses that are not done at births (prenatals, marketing, etc.)?

WOW, that differs from city to city, state to state, and country to country. I would look and see if you have a Small Business Administration that can help you out in that department. I am in an unincorporated town so I really don't have much stuff I need to complete. I just run my business. I did get a tradename but didn't trademark since I don't really have a logo. I registered my name with the state. Other then that, that's all I did. I have a Tax ID now because I sell some birth skirts. Hope that helps a bit.

your town and/or state name and things like "set up" and "small business". Chances are your state offers some kind of site for helping small business owners. Ohio even has a pdf on starting up a doula business.
I have tried twice to attach it here but can't get the browse feature to work. You can email me if you want to see it.

Hey Tamara,

I would love to see that pdf file, I haven't seen anything similar in my searches. I sent you an e-mail but then lost my internet connection- I couldn't tell if it went through.

Thanks so much!

Golly, Tamara! How come I didn't know that?! You'll have to share it with me as well. Don't worry; I'll remind you, but I know you're soooo busy with Doula Day preparations, so I promise that I'll wait until after Doula Day on May 19! (if anyone doesn't know what I'm talking about, see the Alldoulas calendar. ). I do have a crazy train of thought and get sidetracked and OT so easily!
