how do you register with your state? and do you have to register with your city? how do you go about trademarking? and should I have a tax id number?

Hi Missy,

In the UK we have to register with the Inland Revenue for tax purposes. There is a thread you may be interested in which discusses the legalitites, etc.

You can also contact your local Chamber of Commerce and they will help you out with that. Becoming a member is a GREAT idea. I wish I could, but it's sooo expensive. Otherwise, call your city's licensing bureau because you might need a license in your city. Trademarking is easy and the price varies per state. I think it was $150 for me to register my name.
