Should I create an LLC?

I have been doing back up for other doulas for awhile (postpartum work only) and have my first client of my own. I don't really have the nearly $700 to create an LLC but don't know if I should do it or not?

Have others done it and is it worth doing?

I did it - it cost about half that if I remember correctly. I have never regretted it. I suggest shopping around.

I created mine and it cost me $130. I went to my state website and searched for LLC and it brought up a site that I could apply online. The form was simple and easy and I had it done in a matter of minutes.

Why would it cost you $700? Are you looking into having an attorney fill out the forms? It most likely isn't necessary as you can probably do it on your own.

Nope. Illinois forms cost $500. Then to have it done would be about $150 fee. Total is about $668 for someone to do it for me including the IL fee.

I just love living in IL... they just really kill us on taxes and fees.
