Hi guys! One of my hospitals was very big on epidurals- no spinals, while the other was spinals only. One hospital used stadol like vitamins. Demoral~ always available.
Recently I was introduced tosaline blocks. Very interesting technique being used by midwives today. Commonly used during posterior babes d/t back labor. It's 4 shots of saline injected simultaneously. Midwifes says it's extremely painful but works like a charm for back labor and has no obvious side effects to mom or babe
mumandme2 - What you are calling "tosaline blocks" seem to be exactly what we call "sterile water injections" here! I've seen it done once and it WAS VERY painful for mom but it did help!

Relocating? Did I miss something? Lately my brain doesn't seem to be fully engaged!
We've actually been "relocating" for the last couple of years, LOL! Life got in the way several times, but things finally look perfectly alligned for our move, and it will probably occur sometime in the next few months.
I've added a poll to this thread for ease of answering.

I answered other since I haven't done enough births to know all of the ins and outs of the local hossy's medical management of birth. As far as I know they do not offer water blocks. I have heard of the walking epidural, but never seen it administered-or anyone walking after one!
One local hossy here does have nice large showers and birth balls for use during labor for pain management. That's about as progressive as we get! So far anyways...

At the last birth I attended, the nurses administered sterile water injections NOT for the faint of heart!

I had a "walking epidural" with Keith, but I can assure you there was no walking with it. Even if I COULD feel my legs the hospital wasn't letting me out of bed for anything with an epidural placed.

We go from nothing all the way to spinals. Our hospital mostly does epidurals and a few with stadol, the c/s's get spinals. We also have a huge shower and a birth ball (which we have only because it's mine). I'm trying to change the mindset of the women and their partners that come to my class.
