Dear Tonya and Sally,
I wanted to share with all of you at ICAN that the Today Show (NBC, channel
4) has produced a segment for The Weekend Edition on doulas and I am honored
to have been the doula they used as the subject. The segment airs this
Sunday, August 13th during their show from 9am-10am. If you can't watch it
live, it will be posted on the NBC website along with an excerpt from my
recently published book, "The Birth That's Right For You" (McGraw-Hill).

This offers great visibility and testimony, albeit three minutes worth (not
exactly "real time" labor), to the work doulas do for women and families on
network television.

Well -- I watched it and was impressed until the doctor opened his mouth and said that having a newer doula in the room felt just like having "another person in the room" -- he was speaking of their experience and that they didn't always prepare their clients well enough!!! but, leave it to a doctor to make a stupid comment!!! Sorry -- makes me MAD!!
Overall - it was a positive piece!!

I'll give the segment a . It wasn't bad, but not worthy of a dancing banana. I wish that they would have had a Doula in the studio or something to talk a little more about us. Why didn't it show our benefits with c/s, epis, ect...?

well I watched it and it was good UNTIL of course that stupid doctor opened his mouth! what a moron, I mean it's like if they asked him, Oh do you like the newer or experienced doulas---- I think his part was completely off!!

But the rest was good!
