My funny doula world...

It just tickles me how as soon as I decide on something, everything changes.

In June I went back and forth between whether or not I'd take any clients after my one in August delivered. The fall is just going to be so busy for us and I just didn't feel like I'd have time for advertising, networking, clients, etc. The MORNING I made up my mind, I got an email from a mom who's due in Sept. Lol So I chatted with her a bit, she just returned to the US today and we're setting up a meeting for next week.

I've said before that I'm done doing work for free. Well, this morning I told 2 of my closest friends...they agreed and said they'd beat me if I didn't stop that and raise my fee (the one birth I got paid for was $300 and the next one will also be $300). I get a voicemail on my cell. I was intending on telling the woman I'm moving to another city the first week in December and not doing volunteer births at this time. One thing leads to another...boy am I in trouble At first I suggested she call my back up. She really liked me. She wants to deal with BOTH of us. She said they have no money to pay the full price but would trade us having the experience of a VBAC for all photos or videos of the birth for our business use. When I told her I was moving the first week of December (her EDD is 12/15) so I needed to make sure Christi was available before even setting up consultation she was like 'we'll pay you to drive here from Gainesville...gas $$, whatever, we'll do it!'...it was crazy. So I guess it's not really 'free' if she's going to comp for some expenses. But still...I'm really excited though. It's just funny how I decide something and I don't really get to have the say

I know it! It's just so funny! I'm like 'should I even bother fretting over this or that?'. I still can't get over (and I hate to keep repeating myself but it's crazy) how my doula friend and I were going to work together, then I said I was moving to Gainesville and we were both sad...Now this doc in the town, exactly between the 2 of us (an hour drive either way) is drawing us there. So funny!
