Pre-term labor fFn test

The fFn test was mentioned in a different post today. I wanted to share more about it with those of you who have not heard of it.

The purpose of the test is to determine which mom's are at risk for PTB and often moore importantly, which one's are not. No matter how much she contracts, how much pressure she has, or how short or dialated her cervix is, if her fFn test is Negative, she's got less than a 1% chance of delivery in the next 2 weeks. This can allow her to continue her plans for a natural birth without a physical or pharmaceutical intervention that would otherwise be deemed necessary.

To learn more the fetal fibronectin website is www.ffntest.com

I have been talking with our local rep and will soon get to meet with her to discuss it further in detail. I am looking forward to learning more about it as it really sounds like a great resource for those facing possible pre-term labor.

Our local hospitals are also starting to use it more, which is great.

Thanks Annie for this info. I am a back up doula for another doula in my area who has a client that was just tested for this...not sure how it turned out yet.
