1. What was the toughest thing that you have had to deal with at a birth?

2. What is one thing you love about being a doula?

I first became certified through DONA in 1996.
I am a birth and postpartum Doula although I almost never do postpartum work.
I have 4 children and have been married for 17 years to my husband Jeff who is an officer in the US Air Force.

1. What was the toughest thing that you have had to deal with at a birth?
It's only happend twice, but when I am not allowed in for a c-section. I feel like I am not doing my job.

2. What is one thing you love about being a doula?
Seeing a new life come into the world every time I go to work!

1. What made you realize that you wanted to become a doula?
After my second c-section and the feeling of being so helpless at the births I decided that helping other women feel educated and empowered was the best thing I could do!

Yes! I believe "once a friend, always a friend."

What has been the best lesson learnt at a birth?
The best lesson would be what is right for one woman is not right for every woman.

Do you have one tried and true technique you use?
To develop a good relationship beforehand. I try to fit in as many appointments as I can, going to doctors appointments, touring the hosptial, lots of phone calls so when the time comes it's like helping a "friend" give birth.

Thank goodness I haven't had to dump a client. I have always been very picky
