January births
So what does everyone's January look like?
I had two clients due this month - one (repeat client attempting VBAC) due 1/6 and one due 1/21.
Repeat client had her baby this AM, so I have my 1/21 client this month and that's it!

i had a jan mama hire me way back in september - super sweet parents. it was obvious from the beginning that they were not happy with their kaiser ob. she was really into homebirth but he was kind of warry just because it was outside of his cultural norm and he didn't know much about it. cost was also an issue - under kaiser, everything was paid for but they didn't think they could afford $3500 (average homebirth around here) out of pocket. we talked about it a lot, got dad more information and i did a bunch of research for them that eventually led to them switching to a homebirth with a midwife who could flex with their finances... which led to them firing me and using my fee to pay for their midwife. what was that i always say about working myself out of a job? oh well, at least they are keeping my placenta services.
i have another (early) jan mom who hired me in early december. i had a major family crisis and wasn't able to connect with her till after christmas so now we are hustling to get all their prenatals done. i kind of don't feel ready to start doing births again but we need the money and they need a doula. i think it will be fine if not ideal.

Wow Michelle! I'd be glad I went a bit early too!!
I have 2 first time mums this month relatively close in edd. Ok, it's not that bad, but I'm a little knee-knocky knervous. They are a little later in the month. My breast pump is smokin' busy trying to be prepared. My feb vbac momma has had some pre-term labor just to make thing more exciting.

Since my two November clients had their babies in October, this is my first month back after my little vacation! I have two clients due this month - first time mom on the 25th and a second time mom on the 30th (who had her baby a week early last time). Looking forward to being back!

I had a 1/17, a 1/19 and a 2/7, but the 1/19 had her baby yesterday morning, so I just have the 1/17 who has a history of 38-39 week babies, then the 2/7 who swears she's going to go to 41 weeks.

My January 12th client delivered this morning.
My December 27th client is contracting but doesn't seem to be progressing. So we'll see how that one shakes out.

I have a January 3rd EDD and January 17th EDD. The 3rd client has been walking around 100% effaced and dilating since the week before Christmas, so I'm kinda surprised were still pregnant.
I have 2 of my February clients in and out of the hospital with preterm labor, so I have a feeling I'll be seeing both of them in January. Kinda glad my January isn't too packed!

I have my 1st repeat client (who will also be my 1st VBAC!) due Jan 25th. I also have a first time mama due Jan 30th. It'll be nice to get back into it after having the holiday season off.

I'm coming back from a little break too.
I've had anxiety about January for over a month and, now that it's here, I'm much calmer. I tell people I'm a part-time doula and that I don't take on more than one client in a month, but I just can't say no all the time. I get waaay more inquiries than I can take. I have two due this month and one in early February. Plus I have to do a redundant class every Thursday and Friday of this month. Plus my husband will be taking a class in graduate school five nights a week this month. I was freaking out, but I know it will all work out.

I have two January clients, one first-time mama due Jan. 11, one repeat client due Jan. 27 -- both HOME BIRTHS! Also starting two new classes this week, with 9 couples in one class and 7 couples in the other.
Then clients due Feb. 5 and Feb. 9, I have a feeling it's about to get very busy.

My Jan. 4th client had her baby on Dec. 28th. I have one due on the 5th and we're still waiting. Also have one due on the 14th. Had one due on the 15th but my backup is going to take her. She is trying to get her certification births and it was a volunteer one. I've been stressing a bit since strep is going through our house for the second time (we keep infecting each other). I've just got to stay well! And as someone else said...snow! We've had so much this year that I actually hope we are done. I don't do so well driving in it!
