I like #14....Identify the baby. Trying to figure out why it really matters at that point in time? I'm going to assume they mean if it's a boy or girl?
And imagine that ! DO NOT HURRY! LET NATURE TAKE HER COURSE!! Think they should be passing this around to OBs!
I always think it's amusing that the Emergency Guides are always right, and the way OB's manage birth is so different.

I can't decide whether to laugh, shake my head in consternation, or shake my fist at... I don't know who or what I'd shake my fist at, but it would be in frustration for all the fighting that often has to be done to get JUST that simple a birth experience!
(Yeah, the irony that the DoD actually has MORE sense about birthing than a trained OB is not lost on me.)
Wow. (although... can't say as I am totally and completely surprised...)
And I have to say... I LOVE it!It'd be great to have that link.

well- maybe it's this simple because the DOD doesn't need malpractice insurance.

It was something I heard in class that struck me as profound:"It takes a thousand praises to birth a baby"
Mom to Neill (10) and puppy Rocket (2)
Married to wascally Wabbit- 14 years, and still going strong.
I love this, but I'm puzzled. It doesn't say anything about scrambling around for shoe laces to get that darned cord tied off. How about the boiling water!?! Be calm? Childbirth is an emergency, needing to be handled!

Rina brought up something I have wanted to know for ages now...
When did the quick cord clamping thing start, and for what reason?? What school of thought/medical practice made docs want to tie off cords so darned fast? Was it, perhaps, not wanting the brand new infant to get a heavy heap of Mama's heavily-twilight'ed blood? Or what??
