Should you start midwifery schooling before you become a birth assitant?

Right now,I attend births, and I am looking into becoming a birth assistant at a local birthing center.I was offered the job about 6 months ago,but me and the midwife (jennie Joseph) agreed I should wait until I had my baby and was able to return to work.Right now I dont have the ability to began attending Florida School Of Traditional Midwifery, due to some stuff going on personally, but I am wrestling with if I should be attending midwifery school before I take the position. She did offer to train me though.Tell me your thoughts?

If it is a situation that you won't be able to go in the future do it now, if it you are concerned that you will get so busy attending births and wont be able to go do it now, if not do it later

Do it. Know that a majority of CPMs now and in the past have gotten their certification through the portfolio process. Learning as you go is just fine.
