Heartening to Read

Some of the books and articles I've read have mentioned or implied that caregivers dislike birth plans, for various reasons. So I've been pondering this...

As a part-time gig, I am part of a program that trains med students/doctors. Recently, I came across a textbook (published in 2007) that was the "Clinical Examination Guide" and described all sorts of exams (head/neck, pediatric, etc). Naturally, I flipped to the obstetric exam description.

I was so pleased to read that bringing up a birth plan was SOP as part of the exam. Now, that's not to say that every doctor would, but I'm so happy that at least new/newer doctors are instructed to have a discussion about a birthplan.

Maybe everyone else knew this but me?
