Post Doula/CBE Stores

Can you please share any links to online stores containing doula items, childbirth education materials, etc. that you have? I am going to do a page on the site comparing stores with products, pricing, shipping, selection and stuff like that.

I'll be asking for reviews if you've ordered from that particular store as well. Thanks!

www.birthsource.com

I've ordered from them twice and was happy with them both times. The shipping was fast, but of course, they are only 1 1/2 hours from my house!

The site has an on-line store, but also many other resources for both childbirth professionals and expectant parents.

Talking

Rasberrymoondoula,
I'm glad that you had a great out come with birthwithsol.com! She only lives about 15 minutes away from me and I just love her stuff! I had bought some cute bumper stickers from her. One says Epidoula- all the benefits without the risk! and the other one says Midwifes DO know SQUAT! She also has really nice belly casting kits too. I have been thinking about learning more on belly casting, it seems to be getting more pobular with the !

I have purchased from Birthsource.com, and the DONA Boutique--both great purchases, shipped promptly, etc. In the future, I'm looking to purchase from http://home.comcast.net/~luvie42/postpartum.htm (great doula stuff at reasonable prices) and hopefully some doula clothing at http://www.cafepress.com/cookiepants3/501573.

for my own personal use i bought a exercise ball to use as a birth ball frmo ebay- unfortunately, it didnt get here before my roo did, lol

you cna massagers all over. i bought a rolling wooden one from the dollar store during my first pregnancy. you cna get essnetial and carrier oils priced very decently through co-ops. let me know if you want more info on that.

you cna also *make* your own heat packs for clients to use, use a tube sock to make it and then you cna us epretty fabric over that.

Do you find that the hospitals in your area are okay with heating up a homemade heat pack? The only reason I ask is because all the hospitals I have been in (in my area) they have said they would heat up a store boughten on, but not a homemade one.

I find it so interesting how different the areas of the world are. What is acceptable in one area isn't in another.

Congratulations on signing with your first paying client!!!!

If I could have ONE thing in my doula bag?? That's a hard one! Probably the rice packs. All of my moms have wanted the heat. (guess I don't really have to say to be very careful with not getting these too hot , but I did anyway)

I make my own rice packs, too. I've had no problems at any of the hospitals here. The hospital staff is always helpful to make sure that I know where the microwave is so that I can heat them up. They are made from new men's tube socks, rice, a few drops of lavender essential oil, and covered with pillow-case like covers made from baby receiving blankets. So cute!!!

My birth ball is a 65 cm. exercise ball bought from a sporting goods store. I only use it for Prenatals. All the hospitals around here have their own, so I never take it to a hospital birth.

I have bought some massagers at www.birthsource.com. I usually buy my carrier oils and essential oils from Bath and Body Works whenever they have a sale. I also bought a scalp massager from Bath and Body Works on sale (sometimes called "The Spine Tingler" on some websites). ALL of my clients LOVE this scalp massager!!! This would be my close second pick of must have for my doula bag!

Early on, I bought some Labor Support Reminder cards from Polly Perez at www.cuttingedgepress.net . I don't use them as much as I thought I would.
