Lunch invitation from former client!!!!

Not sure if I should post this here or in the Coffee House, but it IS related to me being a doula...so here goes!:

I'm very excited!!!!

One of my former clients (had a Down Syndrome baby this past May) called yesterday and invited my family and me to her house tomorrow afternoon for lunch with her and her family!!! I haven't seen her or her baby since May, so I am so very excited!

She and her husband have only met me (not my dh and two boys), so I think it's really special that she invited us. I can't wait to see them tomorrow! They are a very special family, so I can't wait for my dh to finally meet these former clients of mine! I

being a labor doula!!! It is soooo rewarding!!!!

I know what you mean- my husband and kids and I were invited to the baby dedication ceremony and celebratory BBQ of a baby whose birth I attended in August... my DH and kids were a little <ahem> bored through the three hour ceremony and then two hour reception at which they knew no one, but I was so honored and delighted to have been invited and included- it was great!!!

Isn't this the best job ever?

P.S. Just had a thought... Maybe she is expecting again and is having you over to invite you to be her doula at her next birth too! LOL

So you do know just how honored I feel, Delilah!!

Today was so nice! We attended their church with them and after went to their home for a big, delicious lunch. No....she's not expecting again (at least not that I know of ), but she just invited us for no special reason. She said that they wanted to see me again, meet my family, and wanted me to see the baby again. Our dh's got along really well, and I wouldn't be surprised if we visit again (or they visit us and visit our church sometime). Anyway....I'm guessing that she'd probably ask me to be their doula again some day if another little one comes along. It will probably be a while, though, since she has a lot to adjust to with her 5 month old Down Syndrome baby (and what a cutie he is!!!!!). In any case...today was such an awesome blessing for me! Yes, being a doula is the best!!!!!
