Talking Who would be interested in a SouthWestern Ontario AllDoulas Luncheon?

I've had to come back to Ontario sooner than I thought, so the New England gathering will have to wait. I'm thinking summer/fall 07 there.

However I would like to host a gathering for AllDoulas members to meet and have lunch in Southwestern Ontario. I would like enough time to plan, so I was thinking April or May. I need to double-check and make sure to not schedule around the same time as any conventions you might be attending, so I'll have to announce a date later. This would be a one day gathering and I could get good hotel rates for those who are traveling a long distance and will stay overnight (if there are many, maybe we could get together in the morning before you leave, too).

I would just like to get a rough intial estimate of how many people want to attend. I realize it depends on a few things, but if you are at least interested, please vote Yes. I'll post more polls with detailed questions later. Thanks!

For those in the U.S., here is a rough estimate of driving times to SW Ontario:
--From Detroit, MI: 2 hrs 30 mins
--From Buffalo, NY: 2 hrs 45 mins
--From Cleveland, OH: 5 hrs
--From Pittsburgh, PA: 6 hours

(If you want an estimate from your city, please PM me with city/state.)

Ok, so as I told you (Tiff) in my PM, I am totally considering driving there (especially if my MD alldoulas buddies would be willing to take the road trip with me). It does depend on the date though. It really looks like May would be a better month for me (if anyone really cares;P).

I am leaning toward mid/end May. I still have to check out other conferences and stuff.

I am definitely interested, but not sure if I can swing it or not. I voted "yes" since you won't allow "maybe's". I do have a May 7 EDD client and a May 19 Doula Day (conference? seminar?) in Columbus, OH. Other than that, it's gonna depend on what the money is looking like and my schedule at the midwifery. So....maybe! I think I'm about 3 1/2 hours from Detroit, so it'd be about a 6 hour drive (not too bad).

Hey Tranquility Doula, what part of Maryland do you live? I live in the Greater Washington DC Areas. Perhaps if you are not to far we could get a carpool going. I would be interested.. I know that it is about 3 1/2 hrs to Pittsburgh from DC and add the 6 hrs would make it 9 that is a all day drive.

Hi,
I would be willing to put up a few doulas at my place if we you end up doing it in London and I am able to make it. Perhaps I will send DH and the girls off to Toronto to see Grandma again and we can have a big Doula slumber party :-)

Cheers,
Shawna

I would love to. End of May works for me as I just lost the one client I might have had in May. When you say South Western Ontario, what city do you mean? Because I probably couldn't afford to stay over, since no one wants to pay me to be their doula. (does that sound bitter? it isn't meant to)
I need to see some fellow doulas!!!! I need to be re-inspired!!!!

I would love to connect with some other doulas, I am willing to travel, the only problem that I have is that I work during the weekday and would not be able to attend if it happens through the week!
