"Whimpy white boy" a lung development question

Has anyone heard of this? My client's HCP told her that they want to induce (GD, Macrosomia, etc) but are concerned with lung development. (Yes, I know what you are thinking...let's not discuss WHY she is agreeing to the inducement). The HCP said that the lung development of babies follows this pattern...African American girls (having the best lung development at pre-term births, followed by African American boys, Caucasian girls, then Caucasian boys. She said her HCP was afraid her baby would have the whimpy white boy syndrome?! Can anyone steer me to some good info. for her? Thanks.

Studies do show white male newborns do have the weakest lung development. Strange, huh? I am sure you could google it.

I have heard this from neonatal ICU nurses and knew males in general were the more vulnerable of the species.

Well, even in utero male embryos are actually viewed as foreign bodies and the mother's body may even attack it. As far as I have been told. Nothing is fact until you do some serious research of your own and always ask for a 2nd opinion.

I knew a NICU nurse that worked in the NICU for 25 years and always referred to the whimpy white males....curious to see what your research shows.

I heard about this for the first time this past summer from an IBCLC and PhD. She was talking about breastfeeding and survival rates and stuff like that. So, this idea is definitely out there.
