Private board?

What would you think about having one section of the forums that you must have a certain number of posts or a password to access? I have an issue that I would like to discuss but it can not be on the public board. The ladies in chat tonight helped some but I would love to be able to pick more brains. It would only needed to be used for special circumstances so as not to take from the regular public boards.

It's done a lot on other boards as a way to protect privacy, I think it's a great idea

I'd definitely be down with that. Uh, of course, that is: I'm down with that as long as I get access! haha!

Good idea. I'm guessing that since clients can see what we write, it might be in everyone's best interests to have a spot where just the doulas could work special stuff out.

Thumbs up Nice idea

I would be for this. As Georganne suggested, there would need to be strict requirements to meet before being given access to such a private forum (maybe min. # of posts and admin./staff approval before being given a password or something); if done right, I think it would be a great idea. Let's see what Tiff thinks about it.

Like naming our first born after the admins of the board

If there is a demand for it, I will create it. Sounds like a good idea.

Would someone like to suggest the criteria for access to the private board? I want it to be fair but at the same time must guarantee the member is pretty much either a regular (may be new but visits every day) or a long-time member. Passwords aren't the best because they can be leaked and need to be changed every so often.

I'm an admin on a local moms board we have a set 200 post minimum for certain forums (things like pictures of our kids, journals, momma meet ups...) for security. I'd love it if we could somehow make it so that it's only regulars but we've never figured out how. Maybe by saying that members in those forums have to post so often? It'd be hard to keep track of though...

I love the idea for here, there's a lot of stuff I'd love to talk about but worry about anyone being able to read it... frustrations and such...

I would love this idea!! (yep, I'm able to get on today )
Wait, let me see how many posts I have..okay something like at least 156 posts !
I too would like to write more stuff, but knowing that guests can be on here and they don't have to be identified sometimes weirds me out!

Looking at the post counts in the members list it seems pretty clear who are regular posters. It you set the number at 50, I think it would only leave out 2 specific posters that I would also be comfortable with. They could catch up to 50 posts soon though. Get to posting BirthRevelution and Inner!

I think I could get there in no time! LOL You have to remember, I just found this site, but I'm already hooked!

I do think it would be a good idea to have a private board. I think topics like we discussed in chat the other night should be discussed, but probably a private board would be better. That way only regular posters would be reading sensitive information/client issues.

I agree....sometimes I wonder if I should run my mouth about some things when it really is a public forum.

I think the 50 posts sounds fair. And maybe the access could expire if you haven't visited that area in 30 or 60 days...something like that. That would keep it to the regulars. My 2 cents
