I haven't looked over the WHOLE site yet....
But 2 things that I have found that other sites lack that might be a good is a place to post book recommendations/reviews. Also a place to trade or sell books and other doula stuff that users might have extra of etc.
Another thing that I once saw was a thing that allowed you to fill in a birth plan online and then print it out, so that you didn't have to fill in the blanks by hand....I thought was kinda cool.
The site looks gorgeous! I'm so excited to have this resource.

Online birth plans can be nice, but they tend to end up with something that prints in pages and pages instead of sticking to a one page birth plan format that is more acceptable to healthcare providers and nurses. I remember going to one online place when I was pregnant with my last and I ended up with four pages of a birth plan in 10 point print. Yikes that was long and I had to modify it severely. Sadly when those things are online people tend to pick and pick and then pick some more choices and it is long. I think online birth plans can be nice, but unless families understand they need to modify it to one page then I think it would be a plan that no one would ever read.
Just my opinion

Hey Amanda -- We have a Doula Classifieds forum which you may post about buying/selling/trading books or birth industry related items. It's just not very busy yet.
Amazon.com has such a good book reviewing system which gets used very often. I'd just hate to try and provide something that wouldn't get nearly as much traffic.
You have some great ideas, keep them coming.
I understand where Michelle is coming from about the 4 page printout online birth plans. I am a fan of birth preference sheets rather than plans. Something clean & concise with short bulleted points. This is DEFINATELY something I will consider and put on my development plan for the near future.

I just had a baby 2 months ago and was planning on having a home water birth. Well things didn't go as planned and I remember scrambling to write up a 'birth plan' before we headed to the hospital. It was one page hand-written. Like---
*Baby stays with me at all times
*No shots or medical procedures without my verbal consent
*Please don't cut cord right away, give it some time
*No formula or water to baby
etc etc etc
It worked well. The staff made a copy of the sheet and kept it in my file.

Amanda - A little off topic but did they pretty much abide by your short and sweet preference sheet? (ok, that rhymed )

This may be a little , but I thought that it would be great if there was any way that there could be a spell check for the forums! I'm a terible speller (see, I told you so! )
Just a thought!

Not sure if The Tiff is planning on adding a spell check any time soon (if ever) but in the meantime I've just "discovered" that you can download ieSpell; a free spell checker add-on for Internet Explorer that is very easy to install. It integrates very nicely into IE, adding a spell check button to your toolbar as well as right-click functionality.
ieSpell - A Spell Checker for Internet Explorer (click underlined link to view download page)
If you have Firefox, I've heard you can use Spellbound (click underlined link to view instructions and info page).
