Problems accessing Alldoulas.com

I am not sure if this is the right forum for this.

When I first joined Alldoulas.com I never had any problem logging in or viewing, posting in forums. Ever since a couple of weeks ago though I am having problems. Now EVERY TIME I visit alldoulas.com it makes my computer freeze up for like 1-2 minutes. Sometimes it shuts all my browsers including the alldoulas one and other times if I wait for it to unfreeze it will finally allow me to log in after a couple minutes.
I am not visiting alldoulas or posting as much as I would like to because of this problem. I have tried visiting in IE and in firefox and I am having problems with both. I am not sure if it is my computer or if it has something to do with the site or the sites hosting. All I know is every other site I visit loads up easily but alldoulas keeps freezing my computer. Does anyone have any suggestions? Is this happening to anyone else? It seemed to correlate with one of the alldoula upgrades so maybe there is just more information for my computer to process when it visits alldoulas? I'm not sure but I would love to fix the problem so I could visit more. I missed the chat monday night because it was giving me so many freezeups and I just didn't want to bother anymore.

I have not had any of the problems that you are having. I will move this thread over to the "Help desk & Feedback" forum to ensure that Tiffany will see this.

Hmm, this is the first time I have heard of this problem! I really don't know what it could be. Other than making sure you have the latest version of java installed, and are using IE 6 or greater, or Firefox 1.5 or greater, I am just not sure.

Also, to use chat, make sure you have the latest version of Flash:

I can't reproduce this problem on my own system. What OS are you using?

hi

Now I feel a little silly for starting a new thread when there is already one going on about this! If I could actually access alldoulas.com easily then maybe I would have noticed that thread. My problems definitely seem to be associated with that activeX thing at the top of the screen. I wish I could just get it to GO AWAY!!!! so I could freely roam alldoulas.com without all of these problems.

I have microsoft XP and I'm using the latest firefox. I just need that activeX thing to go away and then things would be better....

It would have helped if you mentioned the Active X thing and I could have pieced it together with the other thread.

I just removed some code from the header file. How is it for you now?

I can't believe it!! but it works perfectly now! Thank you so much!
This was causing me quite a bit of grief. I'm glad I finally went ahead and said something!

I am glad you said something too. A lot of the time I am puzzled by why people wait so long to let me know they are having a problem.

Guess what it was? There was an embed tag in the header that loaded a sound file for the little bar that pops up for guests. All I did was remove that sound file. I guess your browsers do not like the embed tag!! It makes me wonder though, if you'll have problems listening to the audio files through AllDoulas embedded jukebox.

If you listen to Shawna's mp3s about her being on the radio (in our Downloads section), let me know if they play ok for you. Otherwise I have to figure out the common denominator here for the people who are having issues with the sound stuff.
