Exclamation [Posting New Thread] Message Area Grayed Out?

There are some known instances of the message area (text box) being greyed out, where you can't click on it when trying to create a new thread.

It seems Mac users using the Safari browser run into this, as well as some windows users running FireFox (version unconfirmed).

To rectify this problem, change your Message Editor Interface setting by going to your User CP > Edit Options > Miscellaneous Options.

Also using a different browser will often correct the problem.

What about not the message area but the area around it being "greyed out" and not working? I used to be able to use smilies and font enhancments, etc...but now they won't work anymore. Ideas?

Is there a little yellow icon with an exclamation point in it in the way bottom left of your browser? and when you click it, it says something about a javascript error?

No, but I went to my Tools menu (I'm in Mozilla Firefox, BTW), and looked up Javascript Console and these 2 errors were listed: Error: vB_Editor is not defined Source File: http://www.alldoulas.com/forums/clie...hment.js?v=364 Line: 33 Error: vBulletin_init is not defined Source File: http://www.alldoulas.com/forums/newr...uote=1&p=71799 Line: 1559 I'm not a computer person so I have no idea what this means. Is it related? While we're on the subject...It's also screwing up my formatting with paragraphs. I put spaces between paragraphs by just clicking Enter, and they end up (sometimes) all squished back together.

Did you try using one of the other editors in your USER CP > Edit Options ? Just looks like the VB Editor is causing a problem. I'll open a ticket with them.

You can do this! Start out by clicking the "forums" button at the top of the page (inside the blue bar). Choose which forum you'd like your new thread to be in and click that forum from the list. There is a pink "new topic" button (one above and one below the list of threads already in the forum). Just click that and your message box will appear. If you have any problems feel free to PM me!
the tags are description words you use that make it easier to search for topics in the future. Check out the tags link in the pink tool bar at the top of the page.
