What are the envelopes??

So I have to ask cuz I can't figure it out. What are the colored envelopes on the side of the titles for the messages? What do the colors mean? open/shut??

Just realized I wasn't under general-sorry..

I didn't know what envelopes you were talking about at first and then with Michelle's answer I was thinking hmmm is there a new game going on. I recall when the egg hunt started there were a few posts others did trying to figure out what was with the eggs. Now I realize you mean the hot post envelopes and such.

The key is at the bottom of the forum page (not the bottom of the thread here). If you're still having trouble locating it, I can post a screenshot of the key for you.
