My first Try

well im an excited to report i am making my first step in henna land! I decided to buy a beginners kit from the Celestine store here in town ( got killer discount) i decided to go the pre mix/measure route my first time for the extra literature, stencils, and all around easier process to just try my hand, The first one i bought is "earth henna" kit, its came with a squeeze bottle, henna, henna solution and eucalyptus oil, the ingredients are water, glycerin, black walnut extract, benzyl alcohol, sugar, sorbitol, citric acid, disodium EDTA, lactic acid. Any input? please.....

The other one came with a book, two cones of power 10g each,
two pairs of catalyst solution, Mehlabiya oil, and some transfers to start on! they both have there own lasting and waiting time, but i have read from you ladies and on the henna page, putting left overs in the freezer will help them last longer than in the fridge! and i should wait at least 24 hrs after mixing for best results while the instructions say 6 and 1 hour.

Any input on the pre-made info would be greatly appreciated, im just getting my feet wet! Thanks

I'm not too sure about those ingredients in the first one. Sounds like an aweful lot. I bought henna powder, mixed it with lemon juice and a tiny amount of sugar and got a great stain when I tried it.

The great henna master will have to weigh in on this one!

I don't know what sorbitol or disodium EDTA is. You can google them or ask on the henna page. Since it was from a local store, you might not get good stain simply because it might be old. *shrug* Don't know...

I wonder if the "catalyst solution" is lemon juice? There are so many variations on pre mix that there is no way to know what is in them. The only way to know is if you have a microscope to inspect the henna powder and mix it yourself or buy from a Certified Henna Dealer. You could try mixing half of it and following the directions on it and mixing the other half and leave it sit until you get dye release and see what happens. Sorry I'm not more help but good luck and have fun.

Do you mean patterns for pregnant bellies? La Belly Luna is quite popular. http://www.tapdancinglizard.com/labellyluna/

Sorbitol is a sugar, actually a sugar alcohol. Not sure about the rest.
