Hanging a Belly Cast Pt 2
Hi All,
I'm sooo glad this forum exists I've been pulling my hair out trying to figure out how to hang any belly cast. Does the way you shape the cast help to make hanging easier?
I've seen some gorgeous pictures of cast mounted on canvas? frames. How do you perpare them for clients or yourselves??
Totally new to this, so any help is more than appreciated.
TIA
Angela

some of my moms hang theirs some put them on an easel stand like a cook book wrought iron one... i suggest to them that if they make two small holes about two inches apart on each side near the top they can run fishing line thru the two and then run it to the other side and tie it off- it will hang nicely.

I like putting a hole in each side about a 1/4" wide. Then I buy a length of pretty, gauzy fabric that can be bunched up to a smallish diameter to put through the holes. Put the ends through the holes from the back to the front and tie a knot so that the knot is in the front, the fabric runs out the back, and you can hang it on a pretty, decorative hook.

doesn't the weight of the cast break the holes when you hang it this way? I know it's now too heavy but still, that was my worry. So of course I hung it another way and it fell!

No, but you have to make the knots big enough to not pull through. You can also reinforce the area around the holes by putting extra layers on the back side. Most of the time, a lot of the actual weight is put on the wall, where the bottom of the cast meets the wall at the bottom. That part is hard to explain.

the reason i suggest two holes a couple of inches apart - it keeps it from pulling through by distributing the weight a bit more - you can still use ribbon to do it this way as well.

Ok! Thanks for the great ideas. Ribbon sounds lovely. Now to ask for a little clarification:
Do you make the bottom of the cast a special shape so it sits flat on the wall? Or do you try to make the cast like it's an upside-down bowl? SItting flat all the way around. HMMM! I'm not explaining this right?! My last one kinda rolls on the wall.
I'm itching to do another one!!
