Ok, your best bet then is to order from a supplier on www.hennapage.com They certify their henna is pure and fresh, and have great stuff! You can get "almost-free" (1-3 $) samples of stuff to try, which is what I did.
All I use is the henna, lemon juice from concentrate, and dextrose to make it stick better. I then use a rolled cone of mylar (the kind of plastic that comes around a bunch of flowers). They have what they call jac-bottles, I've never tried one, as I heard they are hard on the hands.
I kind of just eyeballed everything, lol. Put henna in a bowl, added lemon juice until it was a paste like thick oatmeal, then added the dextrose (or you can use sugar) until it was smooth and pasty. Then I put it in a zip lock for 24 hours until it reached "dye-release". Then snip off the corner of the zip-lock and squeeze some into a cone.
If you check out hennapage.com they have a TON of free e-books on all of this, with pics and step-by-step instructions. Between that and asking questions here, I have learned a ton!
