Help me find a henna design!
I just remembered I had some henna in the freezer! I am taking it backpacking with me to do while I sit on the side of a mountain to commemorate this trip into the Brooks Range I have been planning for 3 years. It has been postponed and cut down but I am still Soooo freaking excited to be going "there". But I don't have a lot of time to browse the internet (I'm on dial up too). So what kind of cool designs can you all come up with? I plan on putting a mountain type of symbol in the middle but would be fine with flowers, lacy frills, or geometric shapes.

The Henna Page
Go to The Henna Page. They have plenty of free designs (great for belly painting too - they have special pregnancy designs).
She has a bunch of free PDF booklets you can download (or have them sent to you on a disk - scroll down to the bottom of the page).
I love doing the belly painting/henna more than belly casts, hehe.

Hennaed!
I just hennaed my hand in preperation for my trip. I was going to do it while I was out there but I couldn't wait as it would be too messy to do out there so I am typing 1 handed till it dries. Then I'll spray some sealant on it and wrap it in saran wrap overnight. Then flake it off and put vasoline on to make the color darken. It is my own design and my first time so not real professional looking. It has a range of mountains, a bird, a river, a flower, and tundra. I'll post pics when done.

How cool. I had it done once on a doula retreat and then had to do some major professional stuff when I came home (yikes). I explained to everyone what I did and they just smiled and nodded. I am sure they were thinking "weirdo." LOL

Here is with the henna paste still on. I scraped it off this morning and am just tickled that it worked. Mountains, bear paw, eagle, river, flower, tundra, and the dividing my hand in half is meaningful too. Keep in mind it is my first one and was done without any pattern, just freehand, on my self so kind of hard to do. The picture is kind of fuzzy too.

That's awesome! I love it...it's very simplistic, yet I can sense the meaningfulness of it all.

That flower is actually a lot clearer now that the paste isn't clumped up on it. Oh I can hardly wait to do a pregnant belly lol. I'm sure it will be easier on a bigger surface and on someone else.
