I screwed up my new tattoo
My dh got me a new tatoo for my birthday a couple weeks ago. We got the tat's on Tues and the following Sunday went to a concert, Country in the Park, which was great. The thing is you're not supposed to expose new tatoo's to the sun. My new tat is on my right inner forearm and since it was 100 degrees out it was impossible not to expose it to the sun. So thinking I'm being smart I applied SPF 50 to it about 2/3rds of the way through the concert. I had a chemical reaction and it started to BURN. I immediately rinsed it with water but there were no sinks or soap available, just outhouses. I couldn't leave cuz my dh was in the beer garden, aka Margaritaville, and my teenager was gone checking out all the hot cowboys. So there I am with the little ones trying to figure out how to cover the tat. Course then Sara Evans came on and I totally forgot being obsessed with my tat so I could dance and yell and scream. An hour and a half later we get out to the van and I tell Kirk I think I really f'd up my tat. It was still burning and itching.
We get home and it looks ok, I wash with anti-bacterial soap and it doesn't burn or itch any more. The next morning I wake up and sure enough I have *blisters* in the edges of some of the artwork. I kept washing and after a few days started using antibacterial ointment. I ended up with some pretty good *burns* in the tatoo. I called the artist and he said everything I was doing was the right thing to do. The tat wasn't infected or anything, I had a chemical burn compounded by the UV rays that day. He also said to give it 3 months to heal and then come back and he'll fix it for free.
It's almost all healed now, but where the *craters* were the color is very faded. Also the outlining is screwed up. Like the moons in the tat aren't round like they should be.
 I'm so mad at myself!!!
I wanted to tell you all about this for a while and just haven't had the chance to type it all up. I know it will be fine in the long run, but still. we need a temper tantrum smilie I just want to lay on the floor and kick and scream!
I feel pretty stupid. This is my 7th tatoo, I really should know better. Wah!!!

Jill, Jill, JILL!!!!
Between you and Shandi, I'm going to have to hold a Tattoo Care seminar.
I shall not lecture you because I know you knew better and were just way too excited about the country concert you were at and enjoying the sunshine and I know you learned your lesson.
I'm glad you'll be ok. I'm sure it sucks to itch and scab where you can't really scratch it without messing up your artwork. Thankfully, the artist is fixing it for FREE (that is one thing I can say about tattoo artists is they are always great about fixing their tats and are usually generous with their time).
 <<<<<-----pretty! I just found this!

OW sounds painful. I hope it heals well and the fix part isn't torturous.

That sucks! Hope it turns out Ok in the end. I can't wait to get another tat. Isn't it addicting? My hun doesn't quite understand the obsession, because he doesn't even have one!

BooHoo, I don't have a digital camera! That's what I'm asking Santa for this year and you know cuz I'm such a special elf I'll get one. I'm going to try to get Ariann to take pics with her camera, but I had her take one of me with all 5 kids for you all and she still hasn't posted it! Grrrr, I need my own camera

My dh had the twins names added to his "Spear Family" tat and he got Daffy Duck golfing on his bicep. It came out awesome! Daffy even has spike on his wing tip golf shoes!
