Tattoo ?
Thought I would come to some of you women for some wisdom. I have one tattoo already and my nose pierced but am really considering another tattoo, but thought I would ask if anyone regrets their tattoos from their younger years? I haven't decided where I want to put another one/more but where did you put yours and how has it changed as you have aged or had more babies?

I only have one Niccole (on my right ankle) and probably would not get more. I do have a curiosity of what they would look like on my body as I age more. But, that is just me. I love the show "Miami Ink". I watch it with my 16 y/o and she plans on getting one or some down the road. That is all I can contribute!

I have one on each shoulder blade and one on my what can only be called groin area. I'll just say I had to shave some pubic hair to get it. I don't regret any of them. I'd like to get the two on my back recolored as they have faded over the years. But now I am getting into henna so much that it eases the desire for more permanent body art.

Check out the other tatoo threads here in coffee house. There's one in particular that has lots of pictures. Noellia (tranquility) has a gourgeus one of Gaia (earth mother). I have quite a few. Most are where I won't sag too much as I age. My ankles, feet, inside wrist and upper back.

We don't have cable so I have never seen that show - but it sounds cool!
1stimester - I saw your henna pics and they were amazing. I have thought about just doing henna and being content with that for a while. Is it hard to do? Have you tried the pens instead of the paste?
I looked around for some tattoo - wait that was piercings.... LOL- so I'm off to look for the tattoos! Thanks heathenmama!!!!

I just went and looked at everyone's tattoos - WOW! So cool! The one I have on my back (about 6 inches above my pants) is a Sun w/a moon and a cross in it. It was a huge decision for me to get but I wish I would have put it somewhere else so I could at least see it! LOL I may try the hemp this Spring/Summer. Wait, I live in TX there are no seasons here....

I have three tattoos and plan on getting at least one more. Mine are all in places that I can hide if I want to and show if I want to. I also have my nose pierced. I would get more piercings but I don't think it would be a good move "professionally".

May I ask where your tattoos are?
My mom has one on her inner calf and it is a great location b/c you can only see it when she walks and if you're looking for it.

i have mine around my ankle..and I am wanting to get another one. I can't decide where. I have lost weight ( 30 pounds) and am thinking of the small of my back. That part of my body still looks really nice, and I am almost 40.
My 18 year old has one on her low back, and one on her foot. She is wanting one on her belly...but is going to wait until after she has kids, just in case it doesn't look so good when she is done.
I want something very symbolic on my back, and can't decide what that should be... i have my husbands and my kids names wrapped around my ankle like a bracelet, and I have no regrets about it.

Mine aren't that old so they haven't changed much since getting them. Ask me in 20 years how they look!

Well, I didn't get my tattoos when I was young LOL, but instead rebelled when I was in my early 30's. I have two tattoos - one is on my calf - it is a huge rose with dh's name on it and the other is on back (left shoulder blade). The one on my back is of a rose with two love doves above it. I do not like that one nearly as much as the one on my calf, but it is still okay. Someday I would like to have it fixed up and add something to it to make it look nicer, but until then it stays how it is.

I got mine when I was 18 and living in Amsterdam working as a Nanny -I'm 25 now so I guess it hasn't been there that long.....it's on my lower stomach.
I have just had a baby and luckily it looks exactly the same.... bounced right back. I was terrified of it being deformed after pregnancy but thankfully I was blessed.
I have a friend that wasn't so lucky though, was a chinese character and now it looks like the sydney harbour bridge! eeek!

I have 3 (sun, pisces symbol, celtic tree of life). One on each shoulder blade, and one on the inside ankle. All easily hidden. I don't regret any of them. I may redo my pisces symbol, but I know a great artist so it won't be hard to embellish it. I itch to get more, but right now I can't rationalize spending $ on another.

I have two...one huge piece from my tailbone(as low as you can go, baby!) up to the middle of my back...it's a Goddess sitting on a lotus and I have a teeny flower on the inside of my ankle that I got when I was 16. I have a friend who is an awesome tatoo artist and he has been bugging me to get more ink done(along with my partner who is just finishing sleeves...he's addicted!) and I found this thread interesting b/c I am wanting to get my business logo(prego goddess figure with a swirly spiral belly that I drew) on my inner forearm but worry about the whole professional aspect of it. Then on the other hand, I don't care what a doc would think, and probably most mamas would think it was cool, and know I am a dedicated doula if I have a pregnant Goddess/mama tatooed on my arm! right? But it is definitely a cross over to get one so visible(at least in the warmer parts of the year!) I say let's just go for it!!!

My feeling is that each of my tattoos were added at times in my life when I was drawn to certain things. When I am old and gray, I will accept who I was when I got those tattoos and that they are a part of my Self and who I continue to grow to be.
