Tattoos anyone?
Does anyone have any tattoos? I just recently got 2 tattoos(in fact I got one today!). They were my anniversary gift. I got a very non-traditional taurus symbol on the nape of my neck and a hummingbird/hibiscus on my ankle. I'll post some pics.
**Note** they were both taken just a few hours after being done and that's why they are red.

Nope....don't have any. I'm pretty conservative.
I think the hummingbird and flower are very pretty, but tattoos really aren't my thing. I'd rather frame art than make it a permanent marking on my body...but that's me. If you like it as a tattoo, then I'm glad that you got the anniversary gifts that you wanted!
Btw...... Happy Anniversary!!!!!!!!

I have 3. One on each shoulder blade, a shooting star and a butterfly, and one uhm low on my well guess you might call it stomach. I had to shave pubic hair to get it. It is a butterfly landing on a poppy flower.

I have 2 of them. I have a red rose, japanese symbol for Love & my daughter's name on my right ankle. I got that one back in 1999. My latest one is a tribal butterfly that's black & blue with tribal going out on both sides on my lower back. My next one wil be down the back of my neck. My nickname & symbol for cancer added at the end. And probably a small black dragon on my right upper arm. As you can tell I like tattoos. My mom has one of a butterfly on her hip and my sister has a few too. So does my hubby, he has one. I do need to get one for my son too. But I haven't been able to decide on what to get.

I've got 2, both of them done when I was 18. I have the Mandrin Chineses symbol for crazy on my right inner ankle (I was really a different person back then!) & an angel on my lower back. This angel is the ugliest one I've ever seen & I;m very embarrased of it. I am going to have it removed or covered, I haven't decided. I'd like to incorporate my children's names or something about them in my next tatoo, but I'm unsure how.....any ideas?

I have 2..well actuall 3 if you count the one that is a coverup...I have a small, small turtle on my left back hip (it has gotten bigger since I have had kids, ha ha) and then I had an ankle bracelet tat with a guys name on it on my ankle (LAME, don't know why I did it)..then I covered it with 2 large sea turtles on either side of my ankle and green leafy stuff all the way around (ouch on the achilles and ankle bone)...anyway.. I want to get 2 more for my daughters...I am thinking their birth flowers with their names in them or something...not sure yet..can't afford it now anyway. My husband has many..including a huge ohm symbol on the outside of his calf, a steal your face symbol on his arm, an a sun.

I have one on my left leg, just above the ankle! It is a sun, which I just love! I got it when I was seventeen (no one asked, and I didn't tell) (hey, I was young, and looked about 20) . I want to get another one bad! I was planning on only getting one, before I got my first one done, but the gal who inked me, said that they are very contagious, and most people are back with in 6 month, and if they are not, they are contemplating another one! Well, I want another one, I did want it almost right after I got the first, but I was not sure what I wanted, and I'm not just going to put something on my body that does not have any meaning to me! I'm not going for quantity, I'm going for quality! My next tattoo will be the hook and diamond pattern that is used throught 'Special Women' by Polly Perez and similar to the DONA International LOGO. I'm just not sure where to put it yet!
'The hooked diamond pattern appears in traditional rugs, textiles and wall hangings made by women in cultures all over the world. The sign of the hooked diamond is a birth symbol, which, according to Sheila Kitzinger, anthropologist and writer on childbirth, "represents both vagina and uterus and is the counterpart of the male phallic symbol. Whereas everyone is aware of phallic symbolism in art, the birth symbol hass been largely ignored"
Designers Penny Simkin and Lydia Kinata selected the hooked diamond as the inspirations for these symbols, using several "layers" to create a sense of depth to the diamond, and adding curved lines to suggest the soft contours of the female body.' (from the front page of 'Special Women' by Paulina 'Polly' Perez and Cheryl Snedeker)

I have a "Grateful Dead" style rose on my ankle. I just wanted something different. I have about a dozen designs for more but not enough money to do them. Hopefully after my next baby is born I can go get another one done. SO ADDICTIVE!

I have a few
My first is a fairy on my left ankle I got for my 30th birthday (10 years ago). Second is my three older childrens names as an anklet on my right ankle. There is a rose between each name which matches my hubby's tatoo. Then after the twins were born I had to do one for them. Theirs matches the other kids, but it's on the inside of my left ankle. I did Terry & Jeffrey with a rose that matches the other kids, I have my hubbys name with 2 butterflies on my groin (?) Hey with 5 kids he can't afford to leave! I also have my birkenstock tatoo, it's on that little area of your foot that shows when you wear birkies. It's the size of a half dollar and is the symbol of the Goddess.
Lastly, I have a large celtic symbol on my back between my shoulder blades. I got that one for Christmas in 2003. They are addictive!!! I all ready have my next one picked out! I wait a long time to put one on, usually at least a year of thinking about it.
Blessings,
Jill

They are pretty addictive, as I've found out already! It took a long time to pick out the ones I wanted. I had been looking for a Taurus symbol that I loved for years and it took forever for me to find one that wasn't a bull or had pointy horns. When I finally found this one I was so excited but I found it a year ago. I was also looking for something pretty with a hummingbird and a hibiscus flower(my faves - I have a hummingbird feeder out back and love to watch them).
I won't be getting any more for at least another year + since I'm starting school for massage therapy after Thanksgiving. I'll just have to get one for a graduation gift. I want to get something that represents my kids but I have no clue what yet. I'd also like to have a goddess symbol as well.
SO many possibilities! I know why people get covered!
