I got my ear pierced today!

I have been wanting to get the cartlidge part of my ear pierced for a little while. I said to my dd that I wouldn't have it done without her to hold my hand and be my support. Two unmedicated deliveries and you'd think I wouldn't be nervous about an earring!

Anyway, we found ourselves in a Claire's today and I got it done! My dd was so cute. While the lady who was going to do the piercing was helping another customer, my dd was goofing around trying to keep me "happy so I wouldn't have to think about the pain" that was to come! She's awesome!

I just DON"T want it to get infected so I'm going to be hyper vigilant in taking care of it!

I have two cartilage piercings with a barbell that goes through both. I love it

Did they give you instructions on how to take care of it? Make sure you turn it a couple of times a day to keep it from getting stuck! I was told by the piercer to spray Bactine on it as it numbs it a bit and keeps it disinfected. Also, watch out for your hair, it hurts like he** while its healing and you catch it while trying to pull a pony tail back.

I had my cartilage pierced several years ago and it took forever for it to heal. Honestly it was very sensitive for about a year - in fact at one point I let it close, heal and then did it again. My oldest dd had hers done too and it took her a year to heal all the way as well.

Yes, I have had mine done for about 15 years.... it does take forever to heal. And I never take the ring out, as it seems to grow closed really easily.

A year?!?! Zoinks! It is pretty sensitive today and I expect that, but for it to be sensitive (I'm sure not like today) for a year. Wow!
Well, it's too late now. I'm liking how it looks even with the little ball that it was pierced with. When will I be able to change it to a hoop? The girl that pierced my ear said I would have to wait about a year. Does that sound right?

Incidentally, she had a belly button piercing and told me that it took a good three years for it to not be sensitive.

I could have written that post. Mine never stopped hurting so I ended up taking the second one out too. I could never sleep on the side it was on without it really hurting so I got annoyed. I hope you have a different experience!

Well, I still have the same earring in that I had it done with and haven't changed it because I found that when I changed it to a regular hoop the hole started to close smaller.
