I was inspired by the henna threads floating around here to start learning to do it. Georganne helped me with some tips and what to buy. My stuff came yesterday and I mixed up my first small batch last night. I finally had some time just a bit ago to play around with it. My three girls were VERY intrigued!!!!!
Anyway, here is my very first henna design on the top of my foot. I screwed up on the smaller flowers...I accidentally swiped it with my finger because I wasn't paying attention while moving my hand to do something.
So far I'm totally addicted!!! I can't wait to have more time to play some more.
My dh thinks I've gone off the deep end and that I'm a total hippy now.
Michelle ~ I read thru this post and it was very helpful (there are links in there to some of Georganne's other posts about henna): Belly Henna? Anyone else do this?

*Clap clap clap* Bravo! It's a very pretty design and you did wonderfully! Are you using a jaq bottle for application or did you end up getting some mylar for cones? Guess I could go look at which kit you bought.
If your henna is to runny per our PMs then you can just add a bit more powder to that batch but wait for dye release first and see how it behaves then. If you are rolling cones, you can use thinner paste if you roll a tighter point.

Oh yea, I always henna with a paper towel, a q-tip, and a toothpick for any "oops". You can put a toothpick at the base of the henna, right where it meets your skin and kind of roll it/push it and pick the henna off your skin without messing up the whole design. Sometimes you can simply push the henna back to where it is supposed to go. It's forgiving in that it doesn't stain right away.
Your design will change from the bright orange it is now to a darker shade over the next 24-48 hours.

Wow Heather, that's a great first attempt! You're a natural. You also had a good teacher!
Maybe I can get down your way for a little practice session! Nice work, keep it up.
