Exclamation Client Has Blood Clot

Hi, there! I had this all typed out earlier and LOST IT! anyway...
I have a client that delivered a week ago who ended up hemorrhaging about an hour after I left...so...they gave her pit and a clotting agent. A couple days pp, she noticed a lump in her leg where she has a vericose vein. She first thought it might be a spider bight but upon closer inspection found no marks or anything that would suggest a bite of any kind. She called her dr who blew her off for over a day, and then decided to go to a walk-in clinic to be seen and find out what was going on. That dr immediately sent her back to the hospital for imaging and tests. Turns out that it wa a clot in the vericose vein so they put her on coumadin to thin her blood and take care of the clot. she called today to tell me the story and to ask if I had any homepathic solutions for her situation because the coumadin is making her feel just terrible. I put her in touch with a holistic dr that I see and told her that I would do some research (i.e. ask you ladies!) to see what I could find out so that she could ask this holistic dr about them. Do you have any ideas that would be helpful to her? I really don't know anything about homepathic remedies, other than there is a lot to know and as much as I really want to learn, I have NO time!
Oh, and she is nursing, so it needs to be something safe for baby.
Thank you so much! This is pretty urgent!
Ash

Arnica cream is what first came to my mind. I'd have her call an IBCLC to ask questions about breasrmilk and specific meds. CYA Let the IBCLC copy her a page out of Medications in Mother's Milk and then it wasn't you that gave the go ahead. Good call having her contact a holistic Dr

If she googles "blood clot" or "thrombosis" and "homeopathy" together, she will find some info on alternative treatments.

Blood clots can be serious and deadly. If the coumidin is making her feel sick, there are other medical options as well - there is heparin or lovenox that are options are well (although those are both injections that you give yourself)

Perhaps there is something else she can do to lessen the feeling of sickness (maybe take the meds with food, etc) She can discuss that with the new doctor if the doctor wants to keep her on a blood thinner. I breastfed my baby while I was on lovenox; I believe all of the blood thinning meds are fine for breastfeeding though, so that should not be an issue with the breastfeeding.

Referring her to a holistic dr is a good call - a blood clot can be quite serious and she probably doesn't want to go changing what she is doing to treat it without speaking to a doctor.
I wish her quick healing - dealing with a blood clot is not fun at all.
