Correspondance course by Rosemary Gladstar?

Have any of you heard of Rosemary Gladstar? I want to take a correspondance herbalism certification course through The Living Centre in London, Ontario, and not sure of it's reputation. It says it is well respected, but I want to know from someone else. The course is written by Rosemary Gladstar, founder of the 'California School of Herbal Studies' and the co-founder of 'Sage Mountain'. Has anyone heard of her? What is her reputation? Additionally, where will a certification in herbalism get me? I mostly want to take it so that I can recommend natural remedies to my doula clients and have some credentials, but can I use it for anything else? For example, would I be likely to be hired by a naturopathic clinic with just this type of certification?

Thanks!!!

I live here in London, Ontario!

I haven't heard anything about her or her program, but then again I've never looked into herbalism. I was going to start, because I absolutely love Earth Mama Angel Baby products and love offering them to my clients. I need to know more about their ingredients though, and want to know when herbs may interact with medications (like a mom on b/p meds for hypertension.. she wanted to use Milkmaid tea and asked me if there were any interactions. I had no idea, and neither did her OB, so where do we go with that?)

I was talking to an area homeopathic doctor and she said I should find a master herbalist. Well, I'd love to just know all the info myself and have the credential.

Thanks for replying demetria, because I'd also love to look more into what you offer.

And granola_mom, I will check out Rosemary Gladstar and her program since she is local, and PM you with what I learn.

I'm going through Heart of Herbs with Demetria b/c I want to be able to offer ideas for clients about what different herbs would work for what. And I want to make my own sitz bath herbs like my midwife does lol. This reminds me - I have to get working on my homework! I was doing great and then put it down to go on vacation and now I can't get motivated to get started again!

Wow... the Ina May of herbalism, eh? Well that just says it right there!

By the way she doesn't live in London, Ontario. I believe she lives in California, but her correspondance course is offered in London through The Living Centre (www.thelivingcentre.com)

I will get back to the others later, as I'm busy right now but just wanted to post a quick reply and a thanks for all the info!
