Question Any advise?

Hey guys...I still kinda new and haven't formally started training yet.
Here's my question...my cousin is 32 wks, a teacher, and just started back to work Wednesday. BP is great, but, ankle edema has not gone away since she started back to work.....does anyone have ANY homeopathic/aromatherapy advise....we have the elevation thing going, but..with little results so far
Thanks for your help..you ladies are GREAT, and I have learned MUCH already

I don't know about homeopathy or aromatherapy but she might want to try swimming. The water pressure can be helpful for swelling/water retention, it's great exercise and it promotes good fetal positioning.

I don't know about aromatherapy or homopathics for edema, but I would suggest drinking tons of water, swimming, upping protein (could refer her to blueribbonbaby.com or something else to stay in your scope) and waiting for the heat to end and for her leave to start.

Have her alternate walking with resting on her left side, and drink plenty of water.
Some women assume that because they are swollen they shouldn't drink too much, but they should drink more to help move the fluid from the spaces that are within the tissue and outside of the blook vessels.
Cucumbers are a natural diuretic - she can eat as much as she wants to help.
Elevation of exremities helps...even at night, she can have her feel slightly elevated with a pillow.
Massage might also help.
I am assuming her BP is OK - althought edema can be normal and is not necessarily a sign preclampsia.

Is she salting her food to taste? She has to have salt and a lot of women cut out salt from their diets thinking that is more healthy.

When adding salt, use coarse sea salt, it has lots of minerals and is the best way to have salt in your diet

swollen ankles

Great advice from all! I have also heard acupuncture helps with swelling and relaxation.

Putting lemon juice in water just a bit will help. Any time I am retaining water I put about a Tablespoon of it in water or juice and it works great.
