My daughter has a terrible time. She and I both use Magnesia Phosporica (homeopathic) and Menstrual Cramps by Hylands (homeopathic). This last month was bad again (even throwing up) and these didn't work as well as normally so I am making her take evening primrose oil the last 2 weeks of her cycle. That usually helps alleviate pms and ease period symptoms.

I just read someone say the other day that EPO made her periods extremely heavy. Has anyone else experienced this?

This is probably going to sound like a weird remedy, but before I had kids I had cramps and such so bad I had to stay in bed rolled up in a little ball for a day or two. My mom started giving me gelatin caps filled with cayenne pepper and some filled with powdered ginger. Believe it or not no cramps. I never did figure out whether it was the cayenne or the ginger.

Red face

The EPO has always helped me have no PMS symptoms and easier periods BUT everyone is different.

My Mom makes Lady's Mantle tincture, and I'm tell you, it's SO awesome.

Takes the inflammation away, and you feel so much better!!!!

If there is a chance you could be pregnant though, you have to wait to see some blood, and clotting, just to be safe because it can't be used in pregnancy. Usually I am crampy on day 2, so it works out well.

A lot of women like Motherwort, Basil is one we never think of, but you can get it fresh year round in the grocery store and it rocks.

How much basil do you need to eat for it to be effective? I love fresh basil. Sounds like a good reason to make tomato soup once a month!

Herbs can definitely help balance out your system. Having our periods should not be painful.
Diet can have a big effect. Cut out those trans-fats!

my cramps can be horrendous! They used to be worse though. I'm talking vomiting, diarrhea, sweating, shaking, bad!! Thank God I haven't had it this bad in a few years. I'm still trying to ween myself off of heavy doses of motrin though. I recently bought red raspberry leaf tea, but it doesn't completely help and I still find myself taking motrin to dull the pain. Still I want to give raspberry leaf a shot. do the capsules work better?
