I have a question for myself?

I'm wondering if anyone can help. I'm looking for something, natural that can help me fight the sleepies. I get very sleepy in the afternoon and I'm not sure what to do.

I do have low B-12 and take B-12 vitamines and I'm on Paxil which I think makes me tired too. Is there anything out there that someone can recommend for me. I don't mind teas but prefer pills.

Thank in advance!
K.

Do you have any other symptoms of either hypoglycemia or hypothyroid? I tend to be hypoglycemic and notice if I'm not eating properly (high protein, low sugars) I tend to get very sleepy in late afternoon. A protein pick-me-up helps, so does regular exercise.

Bekah, that was the first thing I thought of - protein. Sounds like low blood sugar to me. Just my

Ditto the low iron and hypothyroid.. Go get those tested, I have hypothyroidism and I am anemic and some days it kills me to even get out of bed!

I think I'll be making a drs appointment for myself now that hubby is home to look after kiddies. Thanks, I'll have the tests done, because it just seems so weird. Every afternoon when the babies go down for a nap, I sit down for a few minutes and fall asleep for an hour or so. I can't be sleepy if I've got to be with a labouring mother for 20hrs.

Thanks everyone,
K.

In the mean time an Emergen-C drink can help pick you up. Part of it might be your clock is off if you are used to the naps. Another might just be water! Drink a big glass of water when you start to feel a little tired and see if that makes a difference. I know my big problem is eating enough throughout the day. It is very easy to take care of your kids and not take care of yourself. Eat, drink and exercise. easier said than done, right!!!

Thanks Christie! For me, I can assure you eating is not my problem. Well it is a problem but it is over eating. I tend to pick all day long and I usually get tired just after lunch. I'll see what the dr has to say. I'm never sure if being tired is a legitimate excuse for an appointment. We'll see.

Are you still nursing? If you are nursing the baby down to naps that will release some nice sleepy hormones too. Also, stay away from carbs. They put you on a crash and burn cycle.

I also wonder about your iron. I started taking Solgar Gentle Iron for anemia and it's awesome. It doesn't hurt your stomach either like some iron can. Are you taking your B12 sublingually?

Also...I am becoming addicted to these...www.gtskombucha.com/

They give lots of energy and are very alkalizing for your body..full of probioitics etc...I love the cranberry one.

Get your thyroid checked.
But I found the best thing is eliminate anything white...sugar, flour, rice.
switch to whole grains, and lots of protien, healthy foods, fruits and veggies. Helped me a bunch, and I lost 30 pounds in the process.

I second Emergen-C I drink them when I'm attending births and they work well. Plus they're loaded with vitamins so they are good for you!

First of all:
We all get tired. It´s cause you´re supposed to be tired cause you´re a Doula! Not an easy job!?!
Movement, Massage and Breathing work for me!
I do some yoga, massage some aromatherapy oil and breath.

Just another thought...could your cicadian rythm be off? Do you tend to get more sleepy in the autumn or winter? Maybe light therapy could work....apollo lights make good products, also no side effects from lights!

Just my
