sounds like maybe a deficiency in vitamins/minerals. I would suggest talking with her doc..

I had that...
sour candy seemed to help. It only lasted as long as morning sickness. So for me it was 4-5 months.

I, too, remember the metallic taste. Like Michelle said, it is usually in early pregnancy and then goes away.

Ugh I had that with all my pregnancies during the first trimester.

For me, chewing cinnamon gum helped (like Big Red) or cinnamon Altoids (other cinnamon candy was too sweet)

With the twitching, I would make sure she is keeping her blood sugar up. I get that way when my BS drop. Pregnancy can really throw your BS for a loop. She needs to be ingesting a lot of protein, because carbs will cause her BS to rapidly rise and drop, protein keeps it steady. If she is eating cereal for breakfast, suggest she try a high protein breakfast instead...yogurt (unsweetened and then sweeten to taste with honey), cottage cheese with some fruit on top, eggs, etc. This really helps me stabilize myself.

The metallic taste is probably a mineral deficiency. Is she on vitamins? Are they a readily absorbable kind? Sometimes prescription prenatals are not well absorbed and switching to something else, like those found in a whole foods/herb shop is absorbed better. Eating lots of leafy greens, red meats, etc. will also increase her mineral levels.

It can be so hard to eat right early in pregnancy. Encourage her where she's at!
